Moderators Nergal Posted January 27, 2011 Moderators Share Posted January 27, 2011 The export was of the entire registry from within regedit? What does this have to do with ccleaner? I just did this procedure and yes the file was ~ that big. (mine was 200MB). Why did you want to export the entire registry (seems a bit of a waste of time) ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF. Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark) ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T. Guest
That is a very normal size. Just in case you thought of exporting it as a backup: Note: The "Export registry" function in Regedit is USELESS (!) for making a complete backup of the registry. Neither does it export the whole registry (for example, no information from the "SECURITY" hive is saved), nor can the exported file be used later to replace the current registry with the old one. Instead, if you re-import the file, it is merged with the current registry without deleting anything that has been added since the export, leaving you with an absolute mess of old and new entries. Taken from the ERUNT detailed information section.
