joe1230
I have been using cleaner for years. The most recent download I have is v.300.1303. Now when I download the new version from Piriform and install I get an error message, which says "error opening file for writing" I use windows vista and firefox 4.0 Beta7 I have never had this problem before with any of Piriform products. Yes, remember this is not the first time I have upgraded the cleaner.
Majestic
Could be a problem with the FireFox beta version. Try downloading and installing with Internet Explorer once.

NO COULD NOT BE, AS THEY STATE ON THE PIRIFORM SITE THE PROGRAM IS FIREFOX BETA COMPATIBLE. I THINK THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE PROGRAM, AND THE PROGRAMER. A MISTAKE SOME WHERE. Moderators Nergal Posted November 29, 2010 Moderators Share Posted November 29, 2010 NO COULD NOT BE, AS THEY STATE ON THE PIRIFORM SITE THE PROGRAM IS FIREFOX BETA COMPATIBLE. I THINK THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE PROGRAM, AND THE PROGRAMER. A MISTAKE SOME WHERE. Please don't shout, there's no reason for it. the program is firefox beta compatible, this has ABSOLUTLY nothing to do with the downloading of the installer The issue you are having is either with the product downloading (firefox beta or perhaps some addon you use) or your vista setup (are you accepting the UAC prompt?) Are you downloading from File Hippo or directly from Piriform? Will you please post a screen shot of the error that you are receiving? I had no issue downloading the latest CCleaner (with firefox 4 beta7), nor starting the installer, nor in any part of the installer and finally ccleaner ran and cleaned perfectly. ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF. Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark) ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T.
