Dr Mono
Hi I just installed the new version of CCleaner (2.29) and the options for cleaning Chrome disappeared from CCleaner. Went back to 2.28 and everything works fine. I use Windows 7 Home Premium and Chrome 4.0.249.89. Any suggestions? Thank you!
josephblie
Yes I have exactly the same problem. I updated to v2.29.1111 and Google chrome disappeared from the screen. I already had the same problem a year ago of so and they mailed me a link to fix and it was great till I updated now. I am using Windows XP sp2. Paul B.
I have the same problem here. Judging by just the first file location listed, that's the problem. My Chrome is at C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe. Also, according to http://www.winhelponline.com/blog/add-loca...-in-windows-xp/, the %localdata% env. variable doesn't exist in XP. Sorry, I know I didn't type that env. correctly, but I'm having a lot of difficulty in this edit box. No cursor shows, and I am not able to move back to correct anything. I've never had this problem before (I'm in FF right now). The cursor direction keys are not working... Anyway, it seems the missing env. var. is the root of the problem? I'm on XP sp3 as well. Thanks for a great prog, and be blessed. p.

No that's not the issue the lack of %localdata% in XP is why the are two detects in this entry. so back to square one with this one, I don't have chrome installed (i use a portable version) so more people will have to look at this issue, sorry ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF. Paul B.
Ok, sorry I didn't look further down your post. I also have no %programfiles% env. var. listed on my XP system, but creating it and speccing it to c:\Program Files didn't help, even after a reboot. Moderators Nergal Posted March 18, 2010 Moderators Share Posted March 18, 2010 yes, you are correct that it is not listed in system properties>Advanced>environmental Variables; though nor does %appdata% %programdata% or anything else on that page I linked (except path and tmp/temp) and I assure you they all work . in the run box (start menu>RUN) type %programfiles% it opened the directory for me on my xp sp3 fine. here's the direct Microsoft page http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documen...w.mspx?mfr=true ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF. Paul B.
Yes, you are absolutely correct. That Run command takes me to the right place (nice way to test some of these variables). So evidently that's not the problem. Be well, p.
Moderators Nergal Posted March 19, 2010 Moderators Share Posted March 19, 2010 Ok Now I'm confused: 1) Winapp.ini between 2.28 and 2.29 are identical for google chrome 2) I can see Chrome in both 2.28 and 2.29 (latest version of chrome installed on win xp sp3 today both versions of ccleaner Portable run from desktop have Chrome listed at the top of Applications) and both give the same results ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF. Paul B.
I have no idea if this matters, but I'll throw it out, since there has to be something hidden going on. Google has three tracks for Chrome: gold, beta, development. I'm on the development track, which has almost daily updates. Is CC using a process ID somewhere that might be different among the Chrome versions?
Moderators Nergal Posted March 19, 2010 Moderators Share Posted March 19, 2010 no, doesn't use process ID (uses exatly what I posted above, that's literally what the program looks at) but I wonder if development doesn't report as the specialkeys (but that wouldn't explain it working in 2.28 for you) ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF. Paul B.
I don't know if it was working previously, as I'm fairly new to CC. It would be interesting to poll the others here to see which Chrome track they are on.
Alan_B
It doesn't show here under system properties/advanced/env. vars, under either user or system variables. There are other places that determine Environmental Variables. and some over-ride others. Upon start-up the system variables come into play, and on my P.C. system variables %TEMP% and %TMP% are set to C:\WINDOWS\TEMP, whilst User variables are set to C:\Documents and Settings\Dad\Local Settings\Temp. Until the user logs on the P.C. does not know who will be the user and only system variables are used, but after logging on the relevant user variables over-ride. Neither user nor system variables define %USERPROFILE% but when I run CMD.EXE then SET shows, amongst many other things TEMP=C:\DOCUME~1\Dad\LOCALS~1\Temp TMP=C:\DOCUME~1\Dad\LOCALS~1\Temp USERPROFILE=C:\Documents and Settings\Dad There are in fact many other variables that get established some how. Last year I tracked down where in the registry USERPROFILE is defined, but then my project hit a brick wall and now I have forgotten. Alan
