wakarua
Whenever i run CCleaner, on gutmann (35 passes) this file: System C:\$Recycle.Bin\s-1///\Fallout 3.iso always pops up and is never deleted! Any solutions?
Moderators Andavari Posted January 5, 2009 Moderators Share Posted January 5, 2009 Try creating an empty new text document, then delete it, then try to empty the recycle bin with Windows own built in disk cleanup.
wakarua
Did it & hardly did a thing + yesterday I had 30gb of space left on the C:\ hard drive and after a few hours, Ive only got 1gb left. Its done that for a few weeks now. Thank goodness for the external hard drive. Any other ideas?
Moderators hazelnut Posted January 6, 2009 Moderators Share Posted January 6, 2009 Have you tried booting into safe mode and emptying the recycle bin ? Do you get any error message when you try to empty the bin without using CCleaner? Did you download this via a torrent? If you do start> search, for Fallout 3 .iso do you get any results? xp or vista? wakarua
No error messages when deleting without CCleaner. I just used diskdetective and Moelskinsoft directory, both reporting that 36% (60-66gb) of my hard drive is located in '$Recycle' Should i just manually delete it? Moderators hazelnut Posted January 6, 2009 Moderators Share Posted January 6, 2009 That will be your decision. As you know windows should recreate it. (remember backups!) Have you had a look at the recycle bin properties to see if anything is amiss there? http://articles.techrepublic.com.com/5100-...11-6090574.html Support contact https://support.ccleaner.com/s/contact-form?language=en_US&form=general or support@ccleaner.com

Moderators Augeas Posted January 6, 2009 Moderators Share Posted January 6, 2009 Is this possibly a pirated game? If it's around 20 gb then I'm not surprised CC coughed when asked to do a 35-pass overwrite. On the other hand Waka never said that he had the Empty Recycle Bin option ticked in the first place. Moderators Augeas Posted January 6, 2009 Moderators Share Posted January 6, 2009 Ha! At a meg a second it would take 8 days and 3 hours. Go CCleaner!
wakarua
I got fallout3.iso using DC++ at university, some other student had it so I downloaded it from his computer. My computers graphics were nowhere near good enough to run it so of course i deleted it, also from the recycle bin. Ever since then, the hard disk space on my computer just kept disappearing. I used 'moleskinsoft Directory size' to locate where all the missing disk space was going to, and it was in the $Recycle folder. From 3gb, Fallout3.iso all of a sudden was 66.6gb. So I simply deleted it with moleskinsoft. Now my computer is running perfectly fine, with nothing disappearing on me.
