Can I Park in the Hamilton CBD? No. Most of the Hamilton inner city is closed to parking. You are best advised to use the Park & Ride or park on the outskirts and use the free public transport or walk. Please see "Getting to the Event" for further information. Can I walk to the track? Yes. The track is only a few minutes walk from the centre of Hamilton and only 15 minutes walk from Claudelands, for instance. Or you can take the free public transport. Can I bring my dog? No. Pets of any kind are not permitted on a motor race track. It is extremely dangerous. Can I see the whole circuit? The Hamilton street race circuit is a 3.8km track that winds around the Frankton business district. The best views for this track are from one of the grandstands located around the track. There will be big screens to give you a full view of the action from virtually all parts of the public viewing areas. Please see the Circuit Map for further detail. Can I see the racing from the Frankton Business District? No. As part of the resource consent, the Frankton district inside the race track will remain open for business. Accordingly the track around this area is walled and screened to 2 metres in height. (terrestrial) I like them too, both the U.S. and Australia seem to have an obsession with V8's. They do show it on U.S. TV, but only months upon months after the season has ended, which I wonder if it's some kind of licensing deal, or TV syndication of the years races. Angry V8 fans left the track yesterday furious they were unable to see cars roaring past below from their grandstand seats. Organisers have admitted they got it wrong and have promised to improve the grandstand set-up next year. "I can't see a thing. It is absolutely hopeless," "I waited four hours in the b**** rain for these six tickets." His view up the straight is obscured by a giant TV screen and a tree, and the cars pull in too close to the left of the track before turning the corner, meaning they are obscured. "It's really bad planning as far as I can see. It is not like they were pressed for space. "We actually want to see the cars go past. That is what we paid for." He said an engineer could easily have realised the grandstand seating wouldn't give spectators a good view. She also said the picture on the giant TV screen opposite was ruined by the sun, and the glare meant the view was poor. V8 promoter Dean Calvert acknowledged they had slipped up with the angle of the grandstand. "We've had a number of people come up to us and express disappointment about views." He said he went to have a look and could partially understand the concerns. " Listen, it is our first year. We will be making changes next year, definitely. "The amazing thing is there has only been this one grumble. "We strive to do our best and everything else has been exceptional." When asked if organisers would consider refunds to unhappy spectators, Mr Calvert ruled out that option. "You only get a refund if something is cancelled." Obviously you can tell I don't like NASCAR, and why the hell did Juan Pablo Montoya go into it. I thought he would be more suited for a Lemans ride, or some other sports car racing series and it's a huge demotion going from Formula 1 to it. Well maybe money speaks louder than prestige sometimes. Plus, I think he wanted to prove he could do it. Maybe a trip in Soyuz next?Fast 'cept there's no steering wheel!!! davey P.S.
