  1. Gee, that sounds great... Just kidding. But I hear so many good things about Malwarebytes Anti-Malware program that it seems a shame that people who use McAfee cannot run it... Is this some kind of sinister plot by McAfee?? Beat on Malwarebytes, then buy them out at a low price... Well, my imagination tends to run away some times....
  2. Got notification of my refund ( wow, that was fast!! ) and decided to go ahead and download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware again (trial version). Now that is being blocked my McAfee, too.... I understand from the other board that Marcin is working with McAfee to have them white list the supposed Trojan horse. ... I will just keep trying each day... Eventually all programs will work together, I hope.
  3. OK. Went over to Malwarebytes site and registered. Almost at once one of the administrators came along and tried to help me with the problem. Determined I should un-install and then download and install from a site link he gave me. I did - but when I went to install I got a warning from McAfee Security that there was a Trojan horse inside and I should not install it. So, back to the board. The admin was afraid my machine was already infected and gave me a link to Dr. Web Anti-Virus so I could perform a scan. Man, what a scan - thought it would tear up the whole machine. LOL Anyway, completed with no viruses found. (Had to reboot to get things back in order again). Then, this morning I finally got a message from the technical division of Malwarebytes stating that there was a problem with THEIR program and that they would refund my money if I wanted (I said yes, please) and that a new version would be released later this week with the problem solved (beta version). So that is where it sits now. I think I may wait 10 days just to be safe and then download the trial version again and go ahead and purchase it... Hopefully all will go well. Thanks to all of you who answered.
  4. Thanks, davey. I did go to the site and register. Wrote my sad story and will wait for someone to come along and help me out... I like the computer, but it drives me nuts!! LOL Thanks again for your help. I will come back here if and when I get an answer and some help.
  5. Davey, are you there somewhere? I liked the trial version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware so I went ahead and bought it. Got the ID and Key, went to register it and got a "Thank you for registering" message. Then went to activate Safety Protection and got a message saying "This feature only works with registered programs". E-mailed Malwarebygte tech group yesterday - not a whisper so far. Any ideas??
  6. Davey, I did as you suggested and e-mailed them. As I said before - completely my fault, just need to pay more attention - I have been hearing that for over 60 years!!! LOL
  7. He was one of the greatest!! The Sting is still one of my favorite movies and I can't tell you how often I have watched it...
  8. Well, I uninstalled Advanced Registry Optimizer; ran McAfee SecurityCenter, CCleaner, Windows Defender and MalwareByte's Anti-Malware (full scan) soft. Nothing showed up on any of them and the computer seems to run fine.... Have my fingers crossed... Thanks for your comments. I will try to have my head turned on the next time I decide to download something and make sure exactly what I am clicking on....
  9. Because that was the site I was on; clicked the free download, next I know this Advanced Regisgtry, etfc. was downloading.... Looks like I should go ahead and uninstall it....
  10. Does anyone have any experience with this software? I would like to hear your comments as I inadvertently downloaded it, somehow thinking it was Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.... I am not too swift... I did, in fact, download the Anti-Malware later for a 30 day trial, but in the meantime I am a little worried/wondering about this Advanced Registry since I feel it was a bit sneaky in the way it was on the same page as Malwarebytes. Anyway, I guess all I want to know is if it is safe and if it does any kind of good job. Thanks for helping me out.

    What now?

Davey, this software is connected with NTT (the telephone company in Japan) and their router. To the best of my knowledge it is only for domestic (meaning Japan in this case) use. It is called Flex Virus Clear (written in hiragana) and supported by Trend Micro. I have been using it since I got the computer over a year ago; it was upgraded to version 3 12 days ago. So, maybe this particular software would not appear on any English sites. Third day since the clean up and still working fine. Hoping it was just something that I did...

    What now?

Well, the kid from next door came over; managed to stop all running programs, forceably turned off the computer. Rebooted in Safe Mode and fiddled around with it (not very technical, I know!!). Then rebooted in regular mode, ran the virus software which came up with nothing. Connected to the internet; made a System Restore point and I am back in business. He said he didn't know what the problem was, either, but just worked it out. Oh, my... Just not sure I am in the computer age...

    What now?

OK. Deleted pop3uidl.dbx. Still cannot reboot. Cannot turn off. The Virus Program just keeps saying: checking for virus; wait until finished. This has been 24 hours now; never taken this long.... I am wondering about doing a System Restore at some day prior to the time this started (24 hours ago) or still wondering if it is a flaw in the new version of Flex Virus Clear by Trend Micro - new version installed 6/20 and has worked like a dream... Any other ideas???

    What now?

Forgot to say that I can Standby, but cannot Restart in addition to not being able to Turn Off. This anti-virus program issued an upgraded program one week ago - 3.2 Version - and I downloaded it at that time with no problems. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    What now?

Everything working beautifully until yesterday evening when I went to turn off the computer. Message states anti-virus program (Trend Micro Flex Square) is still operating, wait. (this goes on forever and ever and never get to turn off the computer). Now - 8 hours later - I am up and take the compter from Standby into working mode. My IPS provider mail address will not download the mail. Hotmail is no problem. Since the IPS provider is somehow tied to Flex Square, I am wonder if I should unistall the anti-virus and either reinstall it or just put on a different program. Haven't done anything yet. Windows Live is my default e-mail; OE message is Ox00CCCP19. Would an alternative be to forceably turn off the computer, hoping it is a one time glitch??? Thanks for any help; hope I am somewhat clear.
  17. Yes!!! Thank you so much (and I have made a note of this).
  18. Yep, did that, but the history remains....
  19. All right; probably a very simple answer and I am just finding it... I enter a subject in the Search Web function at the top of the screen; get my info, etc. No problem. How do I delete or clear the function; I don't want to see all the 'a' sites I have looked for everytime for I for another 'a' or b or c , etc. Must be someway to make the computer forget what I have looked at... Thanks.
  20. A quick question, if I may. A little over a year ago I got CCleaner and at that time, donated $20.00 to them. I was wondering if ettique demanded a donation every year or every two years or just what? What do you people do?? Thanks.
  21. Hey, sincere congratulations to you!!!! Glad you are going to be able to study what you like, I am afraid it is so far over my head.... LOL Good Luck.
  22. Cannot help but love CCleaner!! Everytime I have some weird thing occur on the computer, I just run it and voila things clear up. Latest was a Server Error in '/' Application Runtime Error. Can't imagine what was going on, but swear by CCleaner!!
  23. Hello. The idea was to provide a place for mothers who could not/would not care for their newly born babies. Figuring this was better than smothering; leaving in a locker, garbage disposal area, etc., the Catholic Hospital set this up. Too many young mothers over here (and dads, too) just killing their new borns. It was never designed to take care of 3 year olds that people got tired of... Evidently, legally it is OK, but a lot of voices are rising to say what ever happened to morals, family, etc.

    Switch

Didn't realize the competition was so fierce in the US for providers... Glad I am here. Excellent video, though.

    Revenge...

Hi. I would have been kicking b--- and making life as miserable as possible for that neighbor... Can't imagine anyone getting upset over a cat!!! For God's sake, give me a break. As you may guess, we have a cat and she is an integral part of our family; cannot guess what I would do if someone turned her over to animal control - especially knowing who the cat belongs to... Sure glad I don't live in your area. And very glad you got your kitty back!!!
