1GB (2x512MB) @unsober, you could try http://www.crucial.com/ .Very useful site for memory upgrades.Gives you the option to enter your computer details in 3 easy steps (memory advisor tool). They also do a "scan your system" option too. Try it!! Good time to get ram also, getting cheaper all the time.

I use "TuneUp Utilities" & "Regcleaner", had no problems with either so far. Both programs make a "back up"of what you delete. So if push came to shove, I could always restore those entries. Thou I haven't had use the back up yet. Craig.

^^Your right, just went to update and was prompted to install the newer version. Craig.

Doe's anyone known if you can install the new version over the top of the previous.Or is it better to un-install the old one first? Cheers Craig.

Hi. I'm thinking of downloading a defrag program and would like your opinions/suggestions on which progam to use, an what you recommend.I've been lokking at IObit SmartDefrag 2.10 and Auslogics Disk Defrag,or do you think a paid one would be better? I have a couple of questions, if you could help/answer them, cheers. 1.If I install a third party program do I need to disable the windows version in any way? 2.Is it worth getting a defrag program that works in the background, or is an on demand one better? 3.If I deciede I don't like it, is it just a case of uninstalling it an reverting back to the standard windows version with no ill effect? Thanks Craig.

This is a noob question, but I've always wanted to fully understand, so meh. As with all laptops (I think), my Sony Vaio has a C/ drive and a D/ drive. What exactly is the D/ drive for? My D/ drive is empty (well 99%), can it be used just the same as my C/ drive? Can I store programs on it, or do they have to be stored in C/ Program files? Basically I just wanna know what I can use my D/ drive for, and why there are 2 drives anyway. Cheers Craig.

I thought you had the option to not include the yahoo toolbar when installing.Isn't that the same as the slim version? Or am I missing something?

Cheers for the input people. @Humpty, that was my initial thought, but wanted to check.Have you ever done it yourself? I did read somewhere that you can do it using 'Hijack This' as well.I was a bit apprehensive about fiddling using regedit an for it not to work.

Hi Looking in services.msc I have "Automatic LiveUpdates" & "Symantic Core LC".They are both disabled, but I would like to delete/remove them. All other folders and reg entries have been deleted previously using a combo of Symantec uninstall tool, CCleaner & RegCleaner. Would I be right deleting the two above services through regedit in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet1\Services & HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet3\Services? Or is there a better\easier way? Thanks Craig.

Oh err, think you could be right there. I've tried to Google it, an it seems to be quite a common problem. But no easy fix.
