My website has a lot of information on cleaning malware from a computer.
Sounds to me like a file is/was in use though. Try uninstalling and reinstalling in Safe Mode. Also, try to install to another directory.
-
Did you try the VB6 Runtimes?
-
Yeah, several online scanners return false positives.

Of course you are correct tarun.......I was asleep at the switch. Still not available with my updater. Server likely JAMMED!
Glad that they patched it though. Requires a reboot.

Microsoft has already released a fix. I think it'd be better to get that one.
It's on Microsoft Windows Update right now.
-
It's a problem with the session handlers and the fact that after the update, none of MySQL was checked for errors or optimized.
hazelnut, after you read all of the posts you can click the link here or on the forum index that says, "Mark all posts read" and this will resolve the issue.

Three months later.
Is this issue even going to be fixed?

What sort of documents were erased? (*.txt, *.doc, etc)
Are you having issues with the Recent Documents section, or is this from within My Documents?
If you ran the registry Issues section, how is that causing problems with documents?
Where were they located/stored on the computer?

Hello:
How do you tell when you did your last clean-up? Also, a microsoft article suggest disabling unchecking the prefetch folder as deleting the contents can slow down performance. The link to the articles is:
http://mywebpages.comcast.net/SupportCD/OptimizeXP.html
You will have to scroll down a bit to to find the CCleaner reference.
Appreciate a response to the above questions.
Thanks,
Sockers
Don't be fooled by that website. It contains a lot of false propaganda and the kid who made it is no Microsoft employee.

I even installed 3.5 over 3.4 with no issues.

Thanks and thanks for the invitation. But I wouldnt want to become a forum regular on yet another forum, reading my RSS feeds take some time, I play an MMORPG game which I play much more than I really should, and then some forums, take some time, wouldnt want another forum.
Also my interests are different from much people here and there I suppose.
I can imagine people on this and that forum often care about get high FPS in Counter Strike, have a fancy cool desktop with nice colors and try out various freeware and shareware software.
My interests are different, they are more in computer security, cryptography, privacy, anonymity, non-censorship, freedom, programming, open source software, alternative operating systems, open standards, etc.
I am strongly against vendor-lockin, censorship, companies with closed standards who change and intentionally break standards, nagware, etc.
And just to mention something, Microsoft's next operating system wont work with region-free DVD drives. Technical reasons? None.
Give Lunarsoft.net a try; the majority of what you mentioned is discussed there.

I installed right over it with no issues at all.
-
You can install overtop of the old one; works just fine.
-
-
Doesn't work from what all I've heard.
-
That would be very useful; as other bugs could be found and fixed before the public releases. Like that annoying MSN Messenger bug that's been there since October!
-
Outpost all the way. ZoneAlarm sucks.
-
It exists. Drive:\PATH\ccleaner.exe /auto
-
By another computer, I mean a friend's house or even a public library, downloading the installation executable onto the USB drive.
It sounds like you may have a network issue.
-
Try and download it from another computer, then transfer via USB.

Since Windows ME, there has been a My Music folder in My Documents. Andavari is 100% correct and I support everything he has said.

Yet still no answer.
This problem occurs with the new Windows Live Messenger Beta 8.

Weren't you the guy who was promoting warez earlier? (Yeah you were.) So I wouldn't trust any IM program you wrote. Too many security issues since you earlier posted warez links.
