  1. But I suspect the vast majority of Winapp2.ini/Trim.bat users only update Winapp2.ini when a new CCleaner is released monthly.   :blink:  Again.....just my "guessimate".

    Agreed

    it's become a norm to update/trim winapp2.ini after cc release

    I have only been updating the # of entries as new entries arrive in Winapp2 (also the # of removed entries in the non-CCleaner version). I am not sure what Robert wants to do with the version number scheme. Maybe we might just remove it our of Winapp2 or change it to it's own update scheme (since it previously followed CCleaner, but now since it's seperated...).

    is it really separated from cc?

    i don't think so now that the removed entries still outside main winapp2.ini

    i think just continue with the github's update and after each cc release, release the full changelog like how it used to be

  2. Avast for Android has disinfected my mothers phone twice so far.

    maybe she accidentally clicked one of those ads that lead to ads-ware infection

    in this case, yes those AV app will help

    blocking the ads should be enough unless like @CTskifreak mention, heavy browsing and sideload app

    using android for Skype,answering call and browsing to Piriform forum :P , i don't think he need AV app

    Root

    If you unlock the bootloader you will void your warranty, if you flash your phone you "could" void your warranty, if you root your phone without unlocking the bootloader and without flashing there shouldn't be an issue as you can unroot your phone and the root access should be gone - your warranty is back!

  3. I did find the HKCU\Software\Chromium entry in there and deleted it, but it still shows up in the menu so that didn't solve the problem.  I suspect this is a bug and hopefully it will be corrected at some future date.

    in this case, the portable launcher doesn't do the job well in cleaning the browser traces

    you already delete two but you use 4 chrome-based browser

    you need to search for all 4 browser

    i hope dev can create a diagnostic tool like mbam_check or improve /debug command

    i prefer another tool because it can help when cc cannot run

    i know it's not cc fault but i think it can help solve this kind of problem and provide information that can bring improvement to CC

  4. I don't know what you mean by "Custom Location"

    you can either check for that entry in cc setting using Regedit or ccleaner.ini (inside cc installation folder) incase you enable "Save all settings to ini file"

    location in registry HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Piriform\CCleaner

    try this at your own risk

    might solve the problem but i prefer if dev able to find the problem without "uninstall and reinstall" method

    this is not the first time people use it to solve cc problem

    maybe better if you submit support ticket

    export "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Piriform\CCleaner" and delete the key

    open CC again..your CC should be in default setting like when you first install CC

    check if chrome still being detected

    you can import the exported reg back to get your cc settings

  5. too lazy to read from 1st post :P

    that reply for post 16 and 17 which i still think there no way portable browser auto detect will be included in cc

    ...read again 1st post.... :D

    in post 7, he wrote it happen after he update winapp2.ini so better remove it first or rename the file

    please check for CustomLocation in ccleaner.ini/registry

    does the chrome entries got * at the end of each rule?

  6. Any new news on this auto-detect feature?

    i don't think there will be an auto detect feature

    might cause cc to load slower than cc with untrimmed winapp2.ini

    "Optimized detection and cleaning of portable browsers" based on CustomLocationX :D

    Might be better if we can add the portable location using CC instead of using Notepad/Regedit

  7. so, could you please confirm again that I need to manually edit winapp2.ini file to change the hdd folder references to E:\MyData\ff\profiles\* and E:\MyData\tb\profiles\*

    And there I add Light's moved profile location also.

    Thanks.

    CustomLocation only affect entries without *

    so currently cc only clean entries without *

    winapp2.ini = entries with *

    for portable browser, you need to change winapp2 entries based on the profile location

    plus, you need to check whether CC support FF Light or not

  8. i don't think this is correct

    CustomLocation1=FIREFOX Light|E:\MyData\light\Light\Profiles\lightprofile1

    if cc already include Firefox Light into its detection, then you can use

    CustomLocation1=FIREFOX|E:\MyData\light\Light\Profiles\lightprofile1

    the cleaning will be under Firefox

    you need to check the detection log by using Analyze

    if nothing detected, mean CC doesn't include FF Light yet

    you need to download winapp2.ini and search for firefox entries (search DET_MOZILLA)

    modified all ff entries according to your FF Light location

    example

    [Adblock Plus/Edge For Firefox**]
    LangSecRef=3026  >>>  replace with Section=Firefox Light (incase you want cc clean under Firefox Light, not default Firefox )
    DetectFile=E:\MyData\light\Light\App\Light.exe
    Default=False
    FileKey1=E:\MyData\light\Light\Profiles\lightprofile1\adblock*|patterns-backup*.ini;*.tmp

    trim.bat issues.

    1. you need to put trim.bat and ccleaner.exe in same folder

    if you're using 64 bit windows, trim.bat will use CCLEANER64.EXE

    2. i don't think you need it so just choose Skip

    3. you can delete @_#_7_BAD_FULL.LST file and it is created outside #TRIMMER folder because you choose to Preserve(point 2)

    here what i choose everytime i use trim.bat

    (O)rganize or (S)kip  >>  O  --  Sorting

    ®eplace or (S)kip   >>  R  --  Sorting

    (P)reserve or (S)kip  >>  S  --  Debugging

    (U)pdate or (S)kip     >>  U  --  Update winapp2.ini with trimmed entries

    (D)elete or (S)kip      >>  D  --  Delete #TRIMMER folder

  9. Revised Entry

    Removed ExcludeKey's. Because of the ExcludeKey's, lots of LOG and .old files were not being removed. I have tested it on the latest version of Chrome with several extensions installed, no issue whatsoever.

    [Logs*]

    Affected extensions after removing the exclude

    - Adguard

    \Default\Extensions\bgnkhhnnamicmpeenaelnjfhikgbkllg\2.2.3_0\lib\filter\filtering-log.js	7 KB
    \Default\Extensions\bgnkhhnnamicmpeenaelnjfhikgbkllg\2.2.3_0\lib\pages\log.js	24 KB
    \Default\Extensions\bgnkhhnnamicmpeenaelnjfhikgbkllg\2.2.3_0\lib\utils\log.js	2 KB
    \Default\Extensions\bgnkhhnnamicmpeenaelnjfhikgbkllg\2.2.3_0\pages\log.html	17 KB

    - TamperMonkey  ==  Lost all script and setting

    \Default\Local Extension Settings\dhdgffkkebhmkfjojejmpbldmpobfkfo\LOG	1 KB
    \Default\Local Extension Settings\dhdgffkkebhmkfjojejmpbldmpobfkfo\000003.log	12 KB (small because only 1 script)

    and i think need new exclude for Adguard extension

    https://github.com/AdguardTeam/AdguardBrowserExtension/issues/205

    i don't have https_adguard.com_0.localstorage-journal and excluding chrome-extension_bgnkhhnnamicmpeenaelnjfhikgbkllg_0.localstorage-journal doesn't help at all

    excluding File System folder for Adguard does help to solve problem

    i don't use Adguard btw

  10. check Browser Monitoring

    make sure you disable it first so that when you close your browser, cc don't automatically delete all cookies

    check your browser

    make sure that your browser doesn't set to delete all browsing history when closed

  11. I have the latest version of CCleaner on my system. Any idea why [Clover JumpListIcons*] shows up even though I don't have that program on my system. I checked the Windows registry and there is no HKCU\Software\Clover.

    you mispell Detect

    [Clover JumpListIcons*]

    LangSecRef=3024

    Detect=HKCU\Software\Clover

    Default=False

    FileKey1=%LocalAppData%\Clover\User Data\Default\JumpListIcons|*tmp

    FileKey2=%LocalAppData%\Clover\User Data\Default\JumpListIconsOld|*tmp

  12. Thank you. I didn't had an old version but updating it solved the issue for Avast.

    But I still have the problem for "Macromedia Shockwave 11". The worst is that it is not installed anymore on my computer but it's still displayed on CCleaner.

    that mean the uninstaller didn't do the job well and left some leftover

    in this case, registry entry that ccleaner check for the cleaning rule

    you can ignore it or run cc with /EXPORT switch to check which registry entry that cc use to detect Shockwave

  13. I am having the same problem with ccsetup516.exe.  It starts to install and then immediately freezes. I have tried this three times with the same result.  I use Avast for malware.  I am reluctant to uninstall the previous version -- which should uninstall itself as part of the new installation -- because if that doesn't work I will then have neither.

    Could I get an official response please?  These discussion boards are not a satisfactory way of getting a correct answer to any problem.

    you can try slim installer which usually will be release a week after the official release

    or you can download portable version and replace ccleaner.exe inside ccleaner folder with the one inside portable archive

  14. Revised Entries

    Moved some paths from [Log Files More*] into the entries listed below. Two paths, %WinDir%\winsxs|poqexec.log & %WinDir%\inf|*.log*, are still in this entry and they should not be removed. [Log Files More*] can be removed.

     is this a mistake?
