  1. If someone is looking at videos online that would be an easy amount to achieve, however allot of people also have their browsers automatically delete the cache upon closing.

    that why i'm saying with browser monitoring, system monitoring will be redundant...no other way to make a 1gb of temp from normal usage

    the frequency of checking every 8 hours for me is too quick

    i hope we can have the option to change the frequency

  2. I'm unable to install the newest version.  The installer gets about halfway and then I get an error message:  Error opening file for writing: C:\Program Files\CCleaner64.exe Click to Abort to swto the installation, Retry to try again, or Ignore to skip this file." Then there are the three buttons to Abort, Retry or Ignore. I have downloaded this newest version 4 times and every time, I run into this error. I'm running Windows 7 64 bit, Home Edition.

    Any ideas?

    make sure that ccleaner is not running in the background

    check whether on the tray icon or using task manager

  3. Hi rjo98

    I have been told that the 'Automatically check for updates to CCleaner' setting will work, however the frequency it checks for updates is much less.

    lol...then what about active monitoring?

    everyday?every hour?

    and i do hope we can change this..if we set to 2gb,how pc usage in 8 hours can get 2gb of temp files?

    or even if we set to 0.5gb, with browser monitoring, this will be redundant

    By default, CCleaner will check your PC every 8 hours and take action if cleaning will save more than 0.5GB of hard drive space.

  4. from the thread given by @SMalik http://news.jrsoftware.org/news/innosetup/msg97204.html

    {usercf} expands to the "Common" subfolder of this path by default, so any script using this explicitly will of course use that path. But AFAIK this cannot occur automatically -- it requires the script author to explicitly choose to use it. (And being a {user*} path, it should go without saying that it should not be used unless the install is PrivilegesRequired=lowest.)

    might be better to put Warning

  5. from the link given by @Augeas

    Into that folder might be placed things like default templates, configuration files, and other support data that applications might use that a) might be different for other users of the machine, and B)aren’t your actual working documents.

    you should only read "AppData\Roaming at home" if you're not connected to any corporate environment

    My concern is, these roaming files shown after "Analyzing" include important file names/locations such as tax files, documents & photos. I want to understand why they are included in a roaming file. Secondly, if it is alright to allow CCleaner to delete them, leaving All original files & data intact? Thank you.

    might be Recent Document

    if the file name ended with .lnk extension, it is Recent Document

  6. did you use the "original" winapp2.ini or only [*GCP - xx] entries?

    if you're using the "original" winapp2.ini + [*GCP - xx] entries, you need to do some changes for the chrome entries inside "original" winapp2.ini

    for example,

    [Application Cache*]
    LangSecRef=3029
    SpecialDetect=DET_CHROME
    DetectFile2=%LocalAppData%\Google\Chrome
    DetectFile4=%ProgramFiles%\Google\Chrome
    Default=False
    FileKey1=%LocalAppData%\Google\Chrome*\User Data\*\Application Cache|*.*|REMOVESELF
    FileKey5=%LocalAppData%\Google\Chrome\User Data\*\Application Cache|*.*|REMOVESELF

    CustomLocation1 enable CCleaner to detect your portable profile but the cleaning part didn't use special key as you can see for [*GCP - Internet Cache] which is SpecialKey1=N_CHROME_CACHE ,instead it use different path which is FileKey1=%LocalAppData%\Google\Chrome*\User Data\*\Application Cache|*.*|REMOVESELF

    point the filekey to your portable profile and you can have almost the same cleaning as installed version because for portable version, you only need to clean the profile folder

    btw, i don't use chrome and i don't know if this will help you but i've done the same thing for my ff portable

  7. I'm getting the same message with the latest version of CCleaner. A couple different variables in my case than those previously described.

    I'm running Win7 64-bit with Norton Internet Security (not Avast). - so that's different

    The startup item I'm trying to disable is in Chrome, not Windows Startup - so that's different

    Anyone know the Chrome equivalent of MSConfig so I can test out the ability to disable using that vs. using CCleaner?

    I'll post my results.

    Thx

    the "Chrome" only allow you to enable or disable extension, not program like MSConfig

    this is different from OP so you might need to create new thread regarding this problem

    it is better if you can provide a screenshot of your problem

  8. but if i want to delete a file , inside the folder there are many files , i want to delete only this file

    History

    it has not extension

    how can i add in the ini file

    i mean for example i want to delete this file , again it has no extension

    FileKey1=C:\temp\history

    FileKey1=C:\temp|history

    this will delete "history" file in temp folder

  9. this is what inside winapp2.ini related to cleaning automaticdestination folder

    you can use this entry inside your winsys2.ini or you can go to winapp2.ini thread which will provide more cleaning option but with additional risk

    go here http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=32310

    please read the spoiler before using winapp2.ini

    [Recent Items More*]
    LangSecRef=3025

    FileKey2=%AppData%\Microsoft\windows\recent\customdestinations|*.*|RECURSE

  10. how bout right click at the address bar and choose Delete History ?

    ccleaner without winapp2.ini should be able to delete the address by choosing Other Explorer MRUs which will delete this line

    RegKey12=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\TypedPaths

    source:

    http://www.guidingtech.com/17977/delete-windows-explorer-address-bar-history/

    could you paste here the entry that you use to solve this problem?

  11. duplicate entries

    maybe the dev can tweak winapp.ini entry to include [Common Language Runtime Logs*] and [Microsoft CLR Logs*] into [Windows Log Files]

    or combine both entries for winapp2.ini

    [Common Language Runtime Logs*]
    LangSecRef=3025

  12. I guess *.bak is ok - I don't use the program so I don't know.  Just think - from my standpoint - any thing more specific then *.bak would be better

    well, i don't use eset anymore so i don't know about this entry too

    just asking incase the entry need that specific detection

    sorry if you felt annoyed with the question

    its just that i like to ask till i get/know the answer :P

  13. I have found my problem I have to reopen regedit after cleaning .... :blink:

    they worked with |

    weird..now, both are working

    dunno why

    I would suggest changing it to em*_*-*.dat.bak

    Had a typo in the first posting.... sorry....

    is there a reason why the entry need those em*_*-* when you can simply use * to replace em*_*-* ?

    so that the entry become *.dat.bak instead of em*_*-*.dat.bak

    or to make it simpler, *.bak  :)

    Is Anti-Exploit out of Beta?

  14. I looked over the spoiler from a few entries above and wanted to make these suggestions:

    NOTE: Search for "<==" or "==>"

    [ESET NOD32 Antivirus Backups*]

    LangSecRef=3021

    Detect=HKLM\Software\ESET\ESET Security

    Default=False

    Warning=This will clean your Backup files.

    FileKey1=%CommonAppData%\ESET\ESET NOD32 Antivirus\backup|*.*|RECURSE

    <== change *.* to em__*-*.dat.bak

    change to *.bak or is it still need em__*-*.dat?

    [Paint.NET More*]

    LangSecRef=3021

    Detect=HKCU\Software\Paint.NET\

    Default=False

    FileKey1=%LocalAppData%\Paint.NET|*.*|RECURSE

    RegKey1=HKCU\Software\Paint.NET\|LastFileDialogDirectory
