Printer queue service can allow remote code execution
When an attacker sends a specially crafted print request
Mitigating Factors
- On any of the currently supported Windows operating systems, printers are shared by default.
- Systems are only vulnerable to remote access when a printer is shared and the remote accesser can access the printer share.
- By using best practices for the firewall and standardized firewall configurations, networks can be protected from remote attacks from outside the organization. A proven method is to open a minimal number of ports for systems that are connected to the Internet.
Block the ports used for RPC on the firewall
- The UDP ports 135, 137, 138, and 445, as well as the TCP ports 135, 139, 445, and 593.
- The unwanted incoming traffic with ports> 1024.
- All other specially configured RPC ports.
Multiple Windows services use the affected ports. By blocking the connection to the ports, different applications or services may stop working. Some of the potentially affected applications and services are listed below
- Applications using SMB (CIFS)
- Applications that use maillots or named pipes (RPC over SMB)
- Server (file and printer sharing)
- group Policy
- registration service
- Distributed File System (DFS)
- Terminal Server licensing
- print queue
- computer browser
- Remote Procedure Call Locator
- Fax service
- Indexing service
- Performance logs and warning messages
- Systems Management Server
- License Logging____________________________________

Hey all.
I was wondering if CCleaner deletes files in the "C:\Windows\Temp" folder?
i have try it again and ccleaner dont clean C:\Windows\Temp on my w8.1 64bit
it works only with include-option (all files in this folder + subfolder)
-
-
hello fraser,
yes, no more support for processors without sse2...
here a few comments in this topic:
-
C:\NVIDIA\
this can you delete manually or with the include-option.
but the other "temporary installer" should perhaps stay, if i remember me darkly
https://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=43683&hl=nvidia
-
i mean, not the subfolders in Windows\temp.
you can make it with the include-option.
-
hello smax013,
here a few useful links to ccleaner (pro) docs:

Since Spotify saves the songs you listen to on your harddrive, the cache can become very large over time.
My cache was over 7GB.
Cache location,
C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Spotify\Data
why dont use you the include-option? if you know, what and where exactly the deleteable datas are you can take it in the include-option...

ublock v1.12.4
gorhill released this
- Improperly punycoded hostname for hostname-anchored filters with Unicode characters
- Request: some unused resources are spuriously updated
-
Bad Fanboy server cache policy
- This was causing uBO to use potentially severely obsolete filter lists hosted on fanboy.co.nz, or more generally putting uBO users at the mercy of flawed server caching policies.
- Newly created filter through the element picker is ignored after quitting/launching uBO
- GUI "gear" Blocked by Temporary Elements
-
Punycode phishing attack detection
- Potentially ambiguous base domain names in the popup panel will be labelled Ж (a Cyrillic character), to inform the user that the domain name contains Cyrillic characters which could be confused with some ASCII characters.
- Further reading: IDN homograph attack.
-
More longer timeout time
- Better handling of timeout conditions for slow connections when updating filter lists.
- Add adblock-iran filter list to regional lists

ublock v1.12.2
gorhill released this
This stable release has been (erroneously) published as version 1.12.1 in Chrome store and Firefox AMO. No other change otherwise.
No code change, just a re-package with more recent filter lists to ensure uBlock Origin works out of the box with EasyPrivacy without breaking Facebook upload feature: a filter in EasyPrivacy was causing a false positive.
For existing installations, just force an update of EasyPrivacy.
I did not look into the details, but at first glance it seems the false positive appeared as a result of Facebook changing its code. It's unlikely sites such as Facebook (who would rather not encourage the use of blockers) would test their pages when using a blocker in order to ensure their site still works fine with a blocker.
Today I learned: a whole lot of users have no clue that most blockers work based on filter lists which can cause false positives. The Facebook issue would have happened with any blocker making use of EasyPrivacy.
False positives must be reported to filter list maintainers (not here), and often just forcing an update of filter lists may resolve an issue (because maybe somebody else reported the issue and it was fixed by maintainers).

please let the developers supplementle this info in the version history (v527)

or
v5.27

old is not bad wisdom and experience is more important as the other things. and old things like camera are perhaps better for this and that as a new digital cam could.

Basically I get a black screen for 1 or 2 seconds and then a pop-up message from windows saying that "The video card driver stopped working and has now recovered"
I have the latest driver for this > NVIDIA GeForce GT 730 (MSI) card + I'm running at default settings... no over clocking bla bla bla on this very low grade card.
i have the same thing with asus nvidia 720m (3 years old) from time to time. i have tryed the older driver from manufacturer and the newer - however this driver collapses come back. after the driver collapse it initialized itself on w8.1.
how do you say in english - s**t happens?
