  1. Yes, I have them also ... HKCR\Symantec.Norton.SystemStatus HKCR\Symantec.Norton.SystemStatus.1 They are always back after cleaning.
  2. It does happen sometimes that some systray icons don't load after booting. However own applications virtually works, just the systray icons aren't shown. So I have disabled option Tray Notifications Cache in CCleaner (This cache stores information about any items that have ever appeared in your System Tray, and whether or not you have set them to Hide, Hide When Inactive, or Always Show) and it seems it has cured that issue. Will see if it replicates again. Just to report you.

    Registry issues

Extensions are remnants registry items which can be safely deleted. To my taste Andavari is over cautious but no offence, *.reg backup in CCleaner should be enough. If you install an application, extensions are created and written to registry. Was that application uninstalled, they are no more needed. I ever clean them.
  4. Understood. Very clear reply. Thanks. pegas
  5. Hi folks, In another thread I placed a query that was probably overlooked ... Here's go ... In order to retain the GUI settings (fonts, menu etc.) in PC Translator I had to create exclusions otherwise the settings have gone every cleaning. It was quite fiddly job for me to identify what files I have to exclude. I went through program files, temp folders etc. to pinpoint them finally. These are: C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\WDICT32.INI C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\WTRAN32.INI To avoid such terrible job, I would like to see also exclusions for applications. In other words, if I would want exclude PC Translator from cleaning, I would be allowed to choose this application from a list (similar to the list of applications for uninstall purposes) and disable its cleaning. For those like me, not so PC-savvy, it would be really straightforward and convenient. What do you think? Thx and regards, pegas
  6. Yes, CCleaner deletes history in WD. Therefore WD warns the scan is needed. That's the reason I have unticked WD for cleaning (Applications -> Objects).
  7. An another very solid and proven option is in Ad Muncher. Try it and you will be amazed how effective it is in removing of adds, banners etc. You can get it there http://www.admuncher.com/beta.pl and BTW don't worry for beta, Ad Muncher developers have quite different approach to Betas, they are as stable as official releases.
  8. Glad to serve you . The INI file does ultimately the trick because I never use "Save Settings To INI File" and all settings remain as they are.
  9. Are you really sure? I ever install a new version over old one and all my settings are always retained.
  10. Fully agree ... I have had terrible times with RegSeeker. I did lots of such comparison and RegSeeker always showed hundreds items more than CCleaner, my fault was to completely trust RegSeeker, what in fact forced me to reinstall XF Pro. I am not blaming RegSeeker I rather see myself as a culprit but ultimately for me and other ordinary PC users, CCleaner is the best safe choice in the end. RegSeeker and other registry cleaners must be used very carefully. CCleaner takes of me such personal care and responsibility for safe cleaning instead.
  11. Thx for taking me on board . I have been thinking over from yesterday when I signed up what I should complain for about CCleaner but my honest conclusion is I have nothing. However I persuaded myself to find out an issue at least. Here's go ... In my above post I described I had to exclude PC Translator from cleaning. It was quite fiddly job for me to identify what files I have to exclude. I had to go through program files, temp folders etc. to pinpoint them finally. These are: C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\WDICT32.INI C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\WTRAN32.INI I don't know if it would be feasible to implement something like an excluding feature for an application. In other words, if I would want exclude PC Translator from cleaning, I would be allowed to choose this application from a list (similar to the list of applications for uninstall purposes) and uncheck its cleaning. For those like me, not so PC-savvy, it would be really straightforward and convenient.
  12. Hi folks, I am a newbie here, so please be gentle to me and to my english as well . I have nothing than to express a big thanks to developers for bringing CCleaner to a life. It is an absolutely amazing and safe cleaning tool. I would highlight the SAFE as I am using it more than 5 years now with all options enabled, except User Assist History and Wipe Disk (being added lately) and never been left down, regardless XP Pro formerly or Vista Business presently. I have even disabled cleaning of Windows temp folders older than 48 hours, everything works. I had to create only one exclusion for PC Translator otherwise GUI settings have gone every cleaning. I was really bored from setting up fonts, menu etc. every time I run this bit of soft. Yeah, maybe someone say it is not recommended to have all cleaning options enabled but I passed over all cleaning options and played with them a lot eventually ending with all enabled. Some members here complain that CCleaner is more conservative in cleaning but that's what I am rather highly rating. I have experienced terrible times with RegSeeker and so glad I can trust CCleaner. Just my two cents ... Regards, pegas
