  1. Michigan Blows..................a cold winter wind, that will chill you to the bone.

    Speaking of cold facts!

Bill Gates earns $250 every second; that?s about $20 million a day and $7.8 billion a year!

If he drops a thousand-dollar bill, he needn?t even bother to pick it up because in the four seconds it would take him to pick it up, he would?ve already earned it back.

That will kick you in the snowballs!

  2. Run Cleaner.

Open Internet Explorer, then sign in and check the box ?keep me signed in for two weeks unless I sign out?.

    Close Internet Explorer.

Open CCleaner and go to Options>Cookies>Under Cookies to Delete you should see my.yahoo.com, and or yahoo.com, highlight and move to -> Cookies to Keep.

    Run Cleaner

    Open Internet Explorer.

If this doesn't work for you, uncheck Adobe Flash Player because it may be a Flash Cookie.

    Cleaner>Applications>Multimedia>Adobe Flash Player

Let us know if you need more help.

  3. This would be helpful for Network Administrators, as well as everyone whose computer is used by others.

It could be an option in settings to be setup after install.

A second option could be to disable everything except running the Cleaner.

This way an administrator can have more control over the program.

  4. hesyst, another member with a very similar problem as yours, has had success by doing the following.

First: Restore your advanced settings in IE7. (suggested by davey)

    Internet Options>Advanced>Restore advanced settings>OK

Second: Think about when you first started having problems.

The problem you are having is not caused by CCleaner.

It is something that occurred on or about the same day.

    Did you add any software?

I remembered that just after I installed CCleaner, in an attempt to resolve other problems I was having with my pc, I also installed 'Spyware Doctor'.

If you did add software then disable it.

    Reboot>Surf>Look for history.

You might do this one at a time to pin point the cause.

    I hope this does it.

  5. The post from DennisD is right on the money.

For my brother, I opted to uncheck Adobe Flash Player from being cleaned.

    Cleaner>Applications>Multimedia>Adobe Flash Player.

He keeps adding flash cookie passwords and needs help to exclude them.

  6. These are index.dat files that you should have already deleted. See Post #5

    Marked for deletion: C:\Documents and Settings\XXXuser\LocalSettings\Temporary InternetFiles\Content.IE5\index.dat

    Marked for deletion: C:\Documents and Settings\XXXuser\Local Settings\History\History.IE5\desktop.ini

    Marked for deletion: C:\Documents and Settings\XXXuser\Local Settings\History\History.IE5\index.dat

I've tired everything you both have suggested and so far it hasn't made any difference.

Try a couple more things: Index.dat Suite application (Freeware) because it finds more .dat files and does all users.

    http://support.it-mate.co.uk/?mode=Product...=index.datsuite

Download Basic Install or No Install: For the No Install zip file, unzip to desired location and double click on the ID Suite icon in folder.

Click on the cog wheel and uncheck all Folder options>save (let CCleaner handle theses). Don't change any other settings unless you know what you are changing. Select Drive>Click on find>When its finished searching, click on the black icon on top toolbar(second from the left) to generate file>Reboot>Surf>Look for history.

Do you use IE7Pro? If so, do as davey suggested.

IE7Pro Privacy options should be off.

Internet Options > Advanced > Restore advanced settings>OK

    If all else fails!

Did you try a system restore to before CCleaner?

    Good Luck,

    Jamin4u

  7. Did you try a system restore to before CCleaner?

Do you use Erunt? Great program to backup the registry.

    http://www.larshederer.homepage.t-online.de/erunt/

Do you know what settings you used in CCleaner?

Did you use CCleaner to fix Registry issues with a backup?

If you use IE7PRO do as davey suggested.

IE7Pro Privacy options should be off.

Internet Options > Advanced > Restore advanced settings>OK

    Scroll Through History.

Hold SHIFT and Scroll the Mouse - This will allow you to review your history as stored in memory.

This is great for reviewing what was typed into forms.

    Some keyboard shortcuts.

    http://wiki.ie7pro.com/index.php/Keyboard_...rnet_Explorer_7

  8. You may have started Internet Explorer with no add-ons, but if you use IE7Pro this is what davey said, along with other suggestions.

IE7Pro Privacy options should be off.

Internet Options > Advanced > Restore advanced settings>OK

I had some weird things happen with History once in the past but with these settings, after a couple reboots or days everything was back to normal.

Like you suggested, he may have had some software or add-on that left something behind in an Boot.ini file or something like that.

Maybe some other software toy he is or was playing with may have this option in it.

Also check his Start-up entries in CCleaner Tools > Startup and MSCONFIG is set for NORMAL startup on General tab and use apply button and restart.

Make sure he is not using advanced cleaning options in CCleaner.

Is he using latest CCleaner version?

    Sounds like good advise.

I found this post on the Internet regarding a corrupted desktop.ini file.

Keep in mind this was Vista but it may offer some help.

Read the whole thing including the comments.

Let us know if this helps, we will still be working on it.

  9. I don't see that we've confirmed your computer is free of viruses, spyware, and other nasties.

Have you run your antivirus software and spyware scans?

This anti-malware application will only take about five minutes to scan after install.

    http://www.majorgeeks.com/Malwarebytes_Ant...ware_d5756.html

This is a fully functional free version with ease of use. If you want the protection module (real time monitoring) then you'll need to purchase it.

If this fails get your history back using the steps you described.

Reboot your computer then look at your event viewer trying to find errors or warnings that pertain to the loss of your history.

I'm sure that it being confined to your account will be the key to finding the cause.

I agree that some type of command is deleting your history on startup. I just asked one member to help. I hope others will also try, because I am about out of suggestions.

  10. Did all that you suggested - still no history.

    Here's where it gets interesting.

I got it back yesterday after unregistering and re-registering the Windows installer - it came back with 3 days of history showing. My histroy isn't gone - it's just being hidden somehow.

It was there all day - and today when I booted the computer it's blank again.

Just did the same thing to the installer - and it reappears.

The rpoblem seems to be related to the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 - it places a folder called "Apps\2.0\etc." in my Local Setting folder. When I delete that - the history reappears.

When I reboot - the Apps folder regenerates itself and the history is blank again.

I'm going to delete the .NET framwork 2.0 (keeping the 1.1 since there are a couple of programs I use that it's needed for) and see what happens after that.

This is maddening - it's there and then it's gone again.....

Sounds like you may be on to something...

Did you just download MS .Net Framework 2.0? Look in add or remove programs. Is it Service Pack 1?

I have XP SP3 with .NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 1 and all is well.

I was unsure if I should uninstall 2.0 and 1.1, so I just left them installed.

Go to Local Settings>History open the folder and double click on Today (if there). Can you see your history?

  11. Right now on the Microsoft source Windows Defender 1.41.188.0

    t1360_defender.png

    http://www.microsoft.com/security/portal

Your source is great for Definitions.

Majorgeeks had that posted on the 6th: http://www.majorgeeks.com/Windows_Defender...ates_d5994.html

This link in my previous post is for program version 1.41.110.0: http://majorgeeks.com/Windows_Defender_d4466.html

The current program version as far as Defenders built in check for updates is: 1.1.1600.0

I've seen them put out a lot of program version updates before they are readily available for download.

Java is another prime example. I go to Majorgeeks and filehippo every day to see what programs are updated.

If you can suggest some other sources that would be great.

  12. I like the way you stated this YoKenny.

Where does Adobe Audition store its "session" files?

If it is in any Temp or Tmp Folder then CCleaner will clean it.

I tried to say the same thing.

Analyze before cleaning, to make sure you don't have to exclude any other part of adobe audition.
  13. You may have a corrupted index.dat file. In Cleaner>Internet Explorer>Check Delete Index.dat files. Run the Cleaner and restart your computer. Check to see if history is there.

    Next if needed>

It's Possible that a tool bar or Add-on is causing this.

    Start Internet Explorer (No Add-ons)

    Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Internet Explorer (No Add-ons)

Check to see if history is there.

Take a look in the drop down box in history.

    Does it look like this:

    By Date

    By Site

    By Most Visited

    By Order Visited Today

    ---------------------------

    Search History

If it does, try and change the setting to see if your history appears.

  14. Hello ahh, and welcome to the forum.

If you used normal file deletion you could try Recuva: http://www.recuva.com/

But you must work fast so the files aren't overwritten.

    The following applies to CCleaner.

In Cleaner>Applications>uncheck adobe audition so it won't be cleaned.

Analyze before cleaning, to make sure you don't have to exclude any other part of adobe audition.

  15. Hello jawjagirl, and welcome to the forum.

It's a good idea not to have any applications open, but I've never been instructed to close any programs by CCleaner. I use Internet Explorer which may be why I don't have pop ups.

I make sure that my browser is closed to clean the cache.

I don't recommend disabling your antivirus, or firewall software.

Where did you download CCleaner from?

Heres the download link I use: http://www.CCleaner.com/download/builds

I use the slim build (No Toolbar).

  16. Hello zoe and welcome to the forum,

If you haven't already, try the following.

Download and use the Adobe Flash Player uninstaller to uninstall previous version.

    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewConten...rnalId=tn_14157

Download Flash Player from here. (Note: uncheck free google toolbar if you don't want it)

    http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/do...=ShockwaveFlash

Test installation here. (This will test Shockwave and Flash Player)

    http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/welcome/

Use the latest version of Java, and make sure it is enabled.

    http://www.java.com/en/

I manually uninstall all older versions of Java.

Do you have any new security software or changes that could block YouTube, like a firewall?

  17. Is there any place that explains what the Problem Descriptions mean?

For the boxes I checked, I got the following:

    Missing Typelib Reference

    Installer Reference Issue

    Uninstaller Reference Issue

    What do they mean?

Hello JeffL, and welcome to the forum.

Missing Typelib Reference is new, and I'm sure a description will be available soon.

You can find Installer at the link below under registry (CCleaner Guide).

    http://www.ccleanerbeginnersguide.com/

I found a topic that covered Uninstaller Reference Issue.

    http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=16141

    I hope this helps,
