Hello honeythief, and welcome to the forum.
Try unchecking Flash Player and run the Cleaner.
Cleaner > Applications > Multimedia > Adobe Flash Player.
If the Cleaner runs normally, you could reinstall Adobe Flash Player.
Download and run the uninstaller from here.
Install Adobe Flash Player from here.
Uncheck optional toolbar if you don't want it.
Heres a link to the CCleaner guide.
Let us know if this helps, or if you need any more help.
Good Luck!

Thanks for the great suggestions!

Does their employer approve of this?
If they do they will provide one that is approved by them.
If they don't then workopolis can be used to find a new position.
Good point YoKenny!
He said they looked at gotomypc.com but they want 20.00 per month per computer.
I'm just trying to help them find a trusted free alternative.

My friend is looking for a program so he can access his work computer from home.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

You should have been able to uncheck during install just like CCleaners Yahoo Toolbar.I thought I would try Comodo firewall on my XP Pro SP3 system and I must say that I am totally un-impressed!1. It installed the Ask toolbar without my permission and prior knowledge that it would be installed and activated.
NEW! COMODO SafeSurf Toolbar built on COMODO Memory Firewall technology.2. It detected several false positives such as SDFIX.exe that I had downloaded myself and a Microsoft Windows SP3 fix.
NEW! On-Demand Virus Scanning:- CFP now provides an option to scan for viruses during the installation and from its graphical user interface.
Comodos Antivirus is still in Beta. I didn't scan during install. Its a manual scan from the Gui. I don't recommend using it.
There's a learning curve and some tricks for setting it up. I set the Defense + Security level to Clean PC Mode For about one week, so I could run all of my programs to let Comodo learn them. You will acquire pending files during this time, I just purged them.
Clean PC Mode: From the time you set the slider to 'Clean PC Mode', Defense+ will learn the activities of the applications currently installed on the computer while all new executables introduced to the system are monitored and controlled. This patent-pending mode of operation is the recommended option on a new computer or one that the user knows to be clean of malware and other threats. From this point on wards Defense+ will alert the user whenever a new, unrecognized application is being installed. In this mode, the files in 'My Pending Files' are excluded from being considered as clean and are monitored and controlled. After running all programs, move the setting to Safe Mode. No pending files in this mode.
Safe Mode: While monitoring critical system activity, the firewall will automatically learn the activity of executables and applications certified as 'Safe' by Comodo. It will also automatically create 'Allow' rules these activities. For non-certified, unknown, applications, you will receive an alert whenever that application attempts to run. Should you choose, you can add that new application to the safe list by choosing 'Treat this application as a Trusted Application' at the alert. This will instruct the firewall not to generate an alert the next time it runs. If your machine is not new or known to be free of malware and other threats as in 'Clean PC Mode' then Safe Mode' is recommended setting for most users - combining the highest levels of security with an easy-to-manage number of Defense+ alerts.I set programs that I trust to trusted applications to cut down on pop-ups.
I set update programs to Installer/Updater to allow elevated privilege.
During regular definition updates there is no need to switch to installation mode. But when you lets say install a new version of CCleaner over and existing version you will need to switch to installation mode.
I eradicated it from my system.
I almost did the same.
This program is for people who want total control over what each program can do on their system.
With Comodo Firewall Pro 3.0, we added another critical layer of protection to our world-class firewall. Defense Plus is one of the most advanced Host Intrusion Prevention Systems available in any desktop security program.Bulletproof protection against root-kits, inter-process memory injections, key-loggers and more
Authenticates the integrity of every program before allowing it to load into your computer's memory
Alerts you every time an unknown or untrusted application attempts to run or install
Blocks Viruses, Trojans and Spyware before they can ever get onto your system
Prevents unauthorized modification of critical operating system files and registry entries
For both the Firewall and HIPS it uses about 10 megs of ram on my XP and Vista systems.

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware is free to? i thought it was only shareware for 30-days?
Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware is free without the protection module. If you want the protection module (real time monitoring), you pay a one time fee to activate it.
-
Yes, I recommend SUPERAntiSpyware free version and also Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware.
You can find it here.
-
You mean that you keep CCleaner open while you use your computer?
Thats right, I like to see what its cleaning. How many megs, what files, and so on.
I may be one of the few that keeps CCleaner open in the tray. I guess its a matter of personal preference.
On my Vista system it cuts down on UAC.
Thanks for the good idea.

I had no idea that Adobe had such problems uninstalling.
After reading hazelnuts post I did a search on error message 1714 Adobe.
I was surprised of how many results there were.
I'm going to switch to Foxit Reader, thats if I can get Adobe uninstalled.

I am ready to purchase another cleaner. this one is not doing to the job.CCleaner is Freeware, if you paid for it please contact a Moderator by private message.
I download CCleaner from here.
I have tried several suggestions and still unable to uninstall adobe reader 7.0.CCleaners Uninstall tool loads fast and runs the uninstaller that comes with the program.
If Adobes uninstaller is broken, you can try the Freeware Revo Uninstaller here.

Don't byte my head off if this has been suggested before.
The first thing I do when I start or restart my computer, is to open CCleaner and minimize it to the system tray.
I use it so often, it's as important to me as my Firewall and Anti-Virus running.
Therefore, I would like to see this as an option.

I don't know what's going on but I wonder if Microsoft had did something in the August critical updates because:
[*] When I went to run Windows own built-in Disk Cleanup it took forever and found a horde of Temporary Files not thinking it would do anything harmful I let it clean them. Come to find out it deleted almost every empty folder, empty 0 byte file on my C: drive from what I could tell, and I ended up having to use System Restore to undo the damage.
I ran Windows Disk Cleanup on two XP Systems and one Vista, with 0 KB Temporary Files found.
Did you find out why this happened on your systems?
-
Avast was my AV choice for years, until I changed to Antivir about a year ago.
-
Hardware firewall is my main defense with Comodo mostly to control outbound.
Comodo has Defense Plus Host Intrusion Prevention System.
-
Nope. Into Notepad and save as batch files (.bat).
To save you the trouble just download them already made:
Thanks Andavari, I appreciate your help and talent.

Done via a batch file, just copy and paste the individual code listed below!
Newbie alert---Copy and paste into a desktop shortcut?

I'd use a countdown timer myself because if it's accidentally clicked that could cause some frustration, or even worse like unsaved work being lost.
Could someone give me an example on how to add -a to abort shutdown during the time-out period.
If you could give me the basics on how to use the rest I would really appreciate it.
Thanks,
I found this on the Internet.
WindowsXP has a program called SHUTDOWN.EXE which allows you to easily create icons to shutdown or restart your computer. To create a shutdown shortcut on the desktop:
Right click on an open area of the desktop
Select New / Shortcut
Enter in "shutdown -s -t 00" - (no quotes)
Press the Next button
For the name, enter in anything you like. I just use shutdown. Click the Finish button.
For a reboot, enter "shutdown -r -t 00"
Shutdown [{-l|-s|-r|-a}] [-f] [-m [\ComputerName]] [-t xx] [-c "message"] [-d[p]:xx:yy]
Parameters:
-l - Logs off the current user, this is also the default. -m ComputerName takes precedence.
-s - Shuts down the local computer.
-r - Reboots after shutdown.
-a - Aborts shutdown. Ignores other parameters, except -l and ComputerName. You can only use -a during the time-out period.
-f - Forces running applications to close.
-m [\ComputerName] - Specifies the computer that you want to shut down.
-t xx - Sets the timer for system shutdown in xx seconds. The default is 20 seconds.
-c "message" - Specifies a message to be displayed in the Message area of the System Shutdown window. You can use a maximum of 127 characters. You must enclose the message in quotation marks.
-
I set them to 10 seconds so that I can change my mind if I remember I have not saved something.
This will help her shutdown her computer. I will leave it at 00 seconds because the abort screen is not needed for her. I may start using this method to shutdown and restart for the simple fact that its convenient.
Thanks,
Jamin4u

Honestly, to be super safe, create a restore point, try them out, and if something happens, you have the restore point to fall back on.
Good Idea
Do you leave your time at "Shutdown.exe -s -t 00" ?
-
My sister is disabled and theses would make it easier for her.
1) Are these correct and safe to use on a daily basis?
2) Will these work on Vista and XP?
3) Should I add time at the end to lets say "Shutdown.exe -s -t 05" ?
To allow time for programs to shutdown.
Thanks,
Jamin4u

Locate the backup (.reg) and open it with notepad, be careful not to alter the file.
Save a copy as a text file, then upload it here so we can see what was fixed.
