  1. If I type regedit then msconfig in the run command box, then run CCleaner with the Windows Explorer (Run in Start Menu)

    box checked they are cleaned.

If I do the same with the Windows Explorer (Run in Start Menu) box cleared they are not cleaned.

I agree with DennisD. With the box cleared the items will not be cleaned and you shouldn't have any problem using the dropdown menu.

Running analyze shows 0 bytes to be removed on my PC as well. I don't think its anything to be concerned about.

  2. Welcome to the forum barnkat.

If checked, clear the box for User Assist History.

Cleaner > Windows > Advanced > User Assist History.

    Restart your computer.

Right click on the start button and select properties > customize and check the number of recent programs to display then click OK > OK.

Open a program like CCleaner, then check the list of recent programs in the start menu. Open another program then check the list again.

    Any luck?

  3. Welcome to the forum IveyLeaguer.

Options > Advanced > Save all settings to INI file.

Copy ini file to other media.

By default, CCleaner's settings are saved in the Registry. If you select this option, they will be saved to the ccleaner.ini file in the CCleaner program directory.

You can use this option to copy your CCleaner settings to a new computer just by copying the ccleaner.ini file.

Also, once you've selected this setting, your desktop CCleaner installation is now a portable installation. Simply copy the contents of the CCleaner program directory onto a USB drive and you can use it on any other PC.

  4. Welcome to the forum videotrax.

No, you shouldn't use Hotfix Uninstaller.

Hotfix Uninstallers - (XP only) Every time you download and run a Hotfix from Microsoft, Windows stores an uninstallation program for that Hotfix on your system.

You can find some good info on CCleaner at the Docs site. (See the link below)

If you have an icon in add and remove programs, you could try Revo Uninstaller to uninstall After Effects.

You might want to join the Adobe After Effects forum for help if that doesn't work.

  5. Yeah, I forgot about that one. Nice pick up metalj.

I like a select number of icons on my desktop to remind me to run the programs.

I'm glad that you found what you were looking for.

Have a look at the CCleaner guide to familiarize yourself with the program. (See link below)

You can also use the search function to find information on topics that have been discussed before.

  6. Welcome to the forum CjMcC,

I don't know of any way to load CCleaner at startup like you are requesting.

Instead of having CCleaner as an idle process, why not try the following.

What you will end up with is an icon that you double click and your done.

You will see the CC icon flashing in the system tray while its running.

    From the Docs:

CCleaner.exe /AUTO CCleaner runs silently and automatically, using the current set of saved options to clean the PC. CCleaner then exits.

    1) Right click on your desktop icon of CCleaner and copy it.

    2) Right click and paste it on your desktop.

    3) Right click and rename it CCleaner Auto then hit enter.

    4) Right click on the CCleaner Auto icon and choose properties.

Under target add /Auto at the end then click OK.

Notice the space after the quotation mark in the example below.

    "C:\Program Files\CCleaner\CCleaner.exe" /Auto

This gives you the option of opening the program with the standard icon, or running it fully automated with the auto icon.

  7. Hi exterra, and welcome to the forum.

When you type a URL in the address bar, I think your seeing your history plus recently typed URLs since you last ran CCleaner and your Favorites.

Verify you have the History and Recently Typed URLs boxes checked in CCleaner.

In IE8 look at : Tools > Internet Options > Content > AutoComplete (Click Settings)

Under Address bar clear the check boxes you don't want to AutoComplete. (Click OK, OK.)

I personally like my favs to AutoComplete.

    I hope this helps.

  8. The right click 'Analyze Cookies' command on 'Cookies' does not work here.

It always does show '0 byte to be removed'. Using the 'Clean Cookies' option all the cookies to delete are correctly deleted.

Moreover, some persistent entries shown in Options > Cookies > 'Cookies to delete' are not cookies, but temporary folders

belonging to Adobe Flash Player. Infact they disappear after the Flash Player clean up.

    Win XP SP3 fully patched

    IE 8.0.6001.18702

    Flash Player 10,0,22,87

Could this be the Flash Files you are seeing in the Cookies section?

    CCleaner v2.19.889

Improved support for Google Chrome v2.

    Fixed bug with IE8 cookies.

    Added support for Flash Cookies.

Added Tool to manage System Restore Files (XP and Vista only).

Added support to remove Opera Recently Typed URLs.

Fixed bug which was displaying wrong Total Bytes removed.

    Improved exception handling.

    Fixed virtual function bug.

    Minor performance improvements.

  9. CCleaner has detected a registry key that was not removed when you ran the uninstaller for Foxit Reader.

    I think it's this one: HKCU\Software\Foxit Software\Foxit Reader

You could run the Registry Cleaner to see if it finds the issue. Make the backup if you remove the item.

If you really know what you're doing, you could manually edit the registry.

I'm not 100% sure, so be very cautious about how you proceed.

  10. Dennis, I just tried what you suggested and it worked just fine.

    Pretty slick. B)

If I may add this to your advise. The check box for save all settings to INI file needs to be checked before you can do this.

Options > Advanced > Save all settings to INI file.

  11. Welcome to the forum captain321,

I too have Vista and don't have hotfix uninstallers in CCleaner > Advanced.

This is normal for Vista, you can find more info by using the search feature on the forum.

  12. Run the Cleaner Reg Cleaner,

it remove its own Uninstall .exe,

You have to install the new version over top of the old to get the uninstall.exe back.

Then Uninstall it and reinstall the cleaner to upgrade!

    Thanks

No problem here with the Reg Cleaner.

I always install the new version of CCleaner over the top of the old version.

    No need to uninstall.

  13. Your welcome,

Augeas just gave another user some sound advise.

    http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?s=&amp...st&p=134739

One thing I would add is to use Erunt to backup the registry.

    http://www.larshederer.homepage.t-online.de/erunt/

    Using Erunt in Vista: http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?s=&amp...st&p=125029

I personally have never had to restore the registry as a result of using CCleaner's Registry section. I find it to be non-aggressive compared to other cleaners.
