  1. Thanks, I know about that. It sounded to me like (in the what's new) there would be an option right in ccleaner to delete these recently typed URLs, like cookies or history, for example.

  2. I'm finding that CCleaner isn't deleting all the files "older than 48 hours" when I select that option. It will select them, but, some remain with dates older than 48 hours.

    Any ideas or?

I'm using the latest slim version and I have XP Home SP3.

  3. you have to enable the tray icon option... then scan or clean directly and minimize CC... it will go to tray icons (icons where is the windows clock by default) and then check the tool tip that appears when you hover the CC tray icon...

    OK, thanks.

  4. thanks for the update ;) Is very nice to see that one of my suggestions was made reality!!!

    OK....

I haven't seen it yet and I've run a scan.

Although the scan turned up empty.

Can some one explain how the icon in the system traya is supposed to work?

So far, no problems with anything else.

    Win XP SP3

    Thank you.

  5. I think this was probably due to the 'Other builds' not being updated on the download server straightaway, there are posts in the announcements thread that it was still V2.04 on there for a while (at a similar time to when jwall posted) though it's all sorted now it seems

    That's exactly what happened.

I was not paying attention to the version number. Doh!

  6. In RegSeekers case it's also a, potentially, very dangerous program.

This is probably off topic, but RegSupreme (andPro) is the only paid for registry cleaner I trust. CCleaner's registry cleaner seems safe, but not as thorough.

The important thing is, make a back up.

  7. I'm curious too. That is why I joined and visit the forum. That's they way forums are. If you have a problem, you post it and hope someone will help. If I can find out how my problems happen I can avoid them in the future. I don't doubt CCleaner's value. Tech's tell you to download it, if you take your computer to them, they download it without even asking you, magazines recommend it, all the download sites suggest it and users give it nothing but praise. I've had it for three years too and have no intention of unloading it, but for three years I've had the same problem. I think it must be something in my system but I haven't a clue what.

Just curious, but what 'problem' are you having?

  8. +1 on all that guys. It's a great program and I've never had any issues with it.

The registry cleaning part may not be as thorough as say maybe RegSupreme Pro or the like, but it's SAFE.

  9. Question about the quick launch icon. It always comes up full red, but after using CCleaner a few times, the red diminishes. In other words, only about the lower third of the icon is red. Am I seeing things, or is this normal?

I have CCleaner on two computers and the icon does the same on both.

  10. It does state (somewhere during installation I believe) that, if you are behind a firewall, auto update doesn't always work - I just manually check periodically.

I usually check manually too, I just wanted to try the auto. My desktop (also behind a router, laptop and desktop are networked) worked fine. It just seemed a little strange.

I uninstalled CCleaner and reinstalled, so I'll see how it goes next time.

    Thanks for your comments.

  11. I was using version 2 and had the 'automatically check for updates' checked, but it never seemed to check.

I manually checked for updates today and saw one was available, then updated, no problem.

Why doesn't the auto update work?

I have XPSP2 and am behind a router and Avast Webshield.

This is the only problem I've ever had with CCleaner and it's minor at that.

    Thank you.

EDIT: This was happening on my laptop. I just went to my desktop and as soon as I opened CCleaner, the update message popped up, weird.
