I went to the snarfware site and looked at the post. A possible fix was to edit two file types in windows explorer. It might be viable, but I have not tried it.
My situation odd because I have two computers, a laptop and desktop basically set up the same, but the laptop works as it should with the desktop opening two browsers on ccleaner update.
When I compare the two file types mentioned in the snarfware forum, they are different between my two computers. I have not tried any changes though as I don't have a lot of time to devote to this minor aggravating issue.

If you enter 'link opens two browsers' in Google there are approx 1.4 m hits, so you are not alone. I've never experienced this myself. Does IE open if you click the link with FF running? There are some clues here http://www.snarfware.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1600 but there are many posts to plough through. Does this happen if you click the link in Recuva or other Piriform software?
As I don't know the cause I don't know whether it can be resolved in CC or whether it is a pc setup problem.
For me, the Opera user, IE DOES NOT open if I have Opera running.
I only use ccleaner, no other Piriform software.

Yeah, I hear you.
The devs should look into this.
I do thank user 'ident' for trying to help with this.
I use Opera (default) and since you have the same issue with FF, it sure seems like a ccleaner problem.
It's minor, but very annoying.
Hopefully they will listen to us.

Do you know how to monitor the registry?
Regmon is a little tool that has sadly been discontinued.
Open Regmon.exe
In the dialog (include textbox) write CCleaner.exe Then ok
Open ccleaner, and a list of entrys should appear. Press ctrl-x to wipe the screen
Now click the link. Do not do anything other then this. File - save as - save the .log
rename it to ccleaner.txt (piriform does not alloow upload of .log)
then maybe i can see
Sorry, but this program does not work as you described. The update problem is minor and I will live with it. I just don't have the time to spend on it.
I REALLY appreciate your efforts in trying to help me with this!
Thanks.

I assume you mean changing it to opera and then restarting the p.c. . . . right?
also have you tried going into default programs and settings and making sure opera is listed there as the default browser?
Yes, and yes.
-
It is strange, i can not replicate this issue in a virtual machine, but can in another user account.
Im trying to resolve the issue in the second UA since my way did not resolve it there. i will post back
Thanks, I have to be away for a bit, but I'll check back.
The computer that does work, had the "Opera" in the registry and the one that didn't work had "IE". Changing it to "Opera" didn't help.
Good luck.
-
I was afraid of that after more testing today. Are you a single user or does your os have multiple user accounts?
I'm a single user. What's strange is, I have two computers basically set up the same and this only happens on one.
-
Yes, thanks for the hard work, but still, this does not work for me.
-
will be a registry issue not ccleaner
any clues where to look or how to fix?
-
thank you hazelnut, i did switch to internet explorer as my default browser, rebooted, then switched back to opera as my default browser, and this issue was resolved.
jawall, i hope this work around works for you as well.
Nope, does not work for me, xp home sp3.
I have a desktop and laptop, both configured the same and this only happens on the desktop.
A while back, I had to remove Opera and then did a clean install of Opera. After that, checking updates from ccleaner opened Opera, but now, BOTH Opera and IE 8 open when checking updates from ccleaner. ccleaner is the only program that makes this happen.
Maybe an Opera problem or a Windows issue. It's no big deal, just annoying.

Same here with Win XP Home SP3 and Opera 10.62 as default browser.
I guess we are the onlly ones, raed.

Thanks for that, Andavari.
I also have resorted to just deleting or use ccleaner, move to recycle bin and wipe from there. I was just wondering if I was missing something.
Odd thing is though, this occurs only on my desktop, but not on my laptop which is configured similarly, I think.
Thanks again for the response.

Hello,
I know some of you use File Shredder and I am having a small problem with it on my computer.
I have shell integration enabled and when i right click a file in windows explorer and shred it, it does not go away. The icon changes to a generic 'window'. I think the actual file is gone though, because if I try to open it, it won't. This is true mostly on executable (.exe) files. It might take three or more tries before the entry disappears. Text (.txt) will disappear right away.
If I try to shred files in the file shredder program itself, for example "call file shredder", or open file shredder from the start menu, the files disappear on the first try.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling file shredder, but it make no difference.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Same here on XP Home SP3, no problems.
Opera 10.5x had a few issues for me, so I uninstalled and did a clean install of 10.60 and then updated to 10.61 with no problems.
So far, everything is working well.

Some FYI:
Versions 2.33 and 2.34 did not show the flash player. Version 2.34 also had cookie removal problems for me so I went back to 2.33 and, in the mean time, I uninstalled and reinstalled adobe flash. Adobe flash still did not show up.
I installed ccleaner version 2.35 and Adobe flash shows up and all the cookies I've accumulated! I was able to remove all cookies that showed up in 'cookies to be removed'. For now, everything is working perfectly.
XP Home SP3 Opera 6.1

Can confirm, it's fixed, but I use Opera.
EDIT: Strange thing though... When I surf in Opera and cookies show up to be deleted, they have an Internet Explorer icon instead of an Opera one.
-
I see there is a new version out today, maybe that will help.
-
Seems to me, since the moderators moved this to 'bug reporting', it's a bug.
V. 223 works well. I only noticed this problem with version 224.
-
Had the same problem. Did notice that Opera cookies was unchecked so I checked it and the "cookies to delete" went away.
Maybe that's the 'fix' as I too use Opera.
Maybe it's different because of Opera 10.6?
I've never had to do this before, however.
Could be an improvement in ccleaner, I suppose.
Thanks for the tip.

Same problem here. I think it's a bug in this version. Previous version OK.

The situation is: I have two computers. On one, the java log files go to windows\temp,
On the other one, they go to document and setting\username\local settings\temp.
I did run the cmd on one computer and it had the proper path.
I'll have to get to the other computer later.
How can I edit or change the path?
Thanks again.
Question for the Opera users.

You can change the zoom size too.
Whenever I do get a horizontal scroll bar, it always works.
Fit to width works too, but sometimes when you go to another site
after using it, the page won't show everything and you have to
undo the fit to width. It depends on the web site.
