  2. Yes, does appear that the posted Winapp2.ini file is still last month's 5.09 version.
  3. Ah yes, that was the issue. Winapp2... please use the [HuluPlus*] provided below: [HuluPlus*] LangSecRef=3031 Detect=HKCU\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AppModel\SystemAppData\HuluLLC.HuluPlus_fphbd361v8tya Default=False FileKey1=%LocalAppData%\Packages\HuluLLC.HuluPlus_*\AC\INetCache|*.*|RECURSE FileKey2=%LocalAppData%\Packages\HuluLLC.HuluPlus_*\AC\INetCookies|*.*|RECURSE FileKey3=%LocalAppData%\Packages\HuluLLC.HuluPlus_*\AC\INetHistory|*.*|RECURSE FileKey4=%LocalAppData%\Packages\HuluLLC.HuluPlus_*\AC\Temp|*.* FileKey5=%LocalAppData%\Packages\HuluLLC.HuluPlus_*\AC\Microsoft\CryptnetUrlCache\Content|*.* FileKey6=%LocalAppData%\Packages\HuluLLC.HuluPlus_*\AC\Microsoft\CryptnetUrlCache\MetaData|*.* FileKey7=%LocalAppData%\Packages\HuluLLC.HuluPlus_*\TempState|*.*|RECURSE FileKey8=%LocalAppData%\Packages\HuluLLC.HuluPlus_*\LocalState|*.tmp|RECURSE ExcludeKey1=FILE|%LocalAppData%\Packages\HuluLLC.HuluPlus_*\AC\INetCache\|container.dat
  4. Well...Yes I think it now prevents CCleaner from breaking HuluPlus, Bing Weather and Netflix. HOWEVER, there are other utilities that come along and remove container.dat. One of them is MS's Disk Cleanup and another is AVG PC TuneUp. I've unchecked "Temporary Internet Files" in Disk Cleanup and am not using AVG PC TuneUp's cleaner utility to see if these Apps stay operational. Another utility that breaks these apps is the built-in Automatic Maintenance of Windows 8/10.
  5. Revised Entry: [HuluPlus*] In my original submission of [HuluPlus*] posted above, for some unknown reason CCleaner does not honor the ExcludeKey1 for retaining the file named container.dat. It may be because the file is 0 kb in size....I really do not know why. In the code below, I modified FileKey1 and FileKey2 plus eliminated the ExcludeKey1 [HuluPlus*] LangSecRef=3031 Detect=HKCU\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AppModel\SystemAppData\HuluLLC.HuluPlus_fphbd361v8tya Default=False FileKey1=%LocalAppData%\Packages\HuluLLC.HuluPlus_*\AC\INetCache\*\|*.*|REMOVESELF FileKey2=%LocalAppData%\Packages\HuluLLC.HuluPlus_*\AC\INetCookies\*\|*.*|REMOVESELF FileKey3=%LocalAppData%\Packages\HuluLLC.HuluPlus_*\AC\INetHistory|*.*|RECURSE FileKey4=%LocalAppData%\Packages\HuluLLC.HuluPlus_*\AC\Temp|*.* FileKey5=%LocalAppData%\Packages\HuluLLC.HuluPlus_*\AC\Microsoft\CryptnetUrlCache\Content|*.* FileKey6=%LocalAppData%\Packages\HuluLLC.HuluPlus_*\AC\Microsoft\CryptnetUrlCache\MetaData|*.* FileKey7=%LocalAppData%\Packages\HuluLLC.HuluPlus_*\TempState|*.*|RECURSE FileKey8=%LocalAppData%\Packages\HuluLLC.HuluPlus_*\LocalState|*.tmp|RECURSE

  7. Do you happen to use any other cleaning program such as AVG PC TuneUp? The Cleaner routine in TuneUp will also break Bing Weather and HuluPlus
  8. It appears that [bing Weather*] is causing this app to stop working properly on Windows 10 x64 Professional. Randomly Bing Weather will begin opening and then immediately shutdown. In order to get the app to work properly again, I have to 1. Open CMD.exe>Run as Administrator 2. Enter the following command string: PowerShell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted -Command "& {$manifest = (Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.BingWeather).InstallLocation + '\AppxManifest.xml' ; Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $manifest} 3. Push Enter and let PowerShell fix the app. I have not yet tracked down which line entry within the [bing Weather*] code is breaking the app.

  11. RE-Modified Entry: [internet Explorer 10/11*] Instead of changing FileKey5 for INetCache as recommended by me in the post above, add the following ExcludeKey1: ExcludeKey1=FILE|%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache\IE\|container.dat This appears to resolve the issue affecting gadgets in Windows Sidebar as described in my post above. 12. Does anyone know whether deleting the numerous .etl files in %CommonData%\USOShared\Logs will have any negative impact on Windows 10? It appears to be related to Windows Update checking. I think it is just a log file area for Windows Update to log results of running a Windows Update check. However I cannot find much about it on the web. The Log folder looks like it will grow quite large if not cleaned out.
  13. Modified entry requested: [internet Explorer 10/11*] (Referencing the previously entered modification above.) [Internet Explorer 10/11*] LangSecRef=3022 DetectFile=%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Windows\WebCache Default=False FileKey1=%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\SmartScreen|*.tmp FileKey2=%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Windows\AppCache|*.*|RECURSE FileKey3=%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Windows\IECompatCache|*.*|RECURSE FileKey4=%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Windows\IECompatUACache|*.*|RECURSE FileKey5=%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache\Low\|*.*|RECURSE FileKey6=%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Windows\WebCache|*.*|RECURSE FileKey7=%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Windows\WebCache.old|*.*|REMOVESELF FileKey8=%LocalLowAppData%\Microsoft\Windows\AppCache|*.*|RECURSE FileKey9=%WinDir%\System32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache|*.*|RECURSE RegKey1=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\TypedURLSTime Modified FileKey5 from FileKey5=%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache|*.*|RECURSE to FileKey5=%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache\Low\|*.*|RECURSE Reason: Clearing the entire INetCache folder kills the Album Art "folder cover" switching on certain music player gadgets. The gadgets can no longer display the album cover of the currently playing .mp3. These players use the WMP plugin instead of using the full blown WMPlayer.exe. This is on systems where third party software has been added to re-incorporate Windows Sidebar into Windows 8 and Windows 10.
  14. I really don't see any need to remove all of these cleaning modules just because they clean specific backup files. Most of these modules have been in Winapp2.ini for years and users are use to having them do their work. If a user specifically complains about module, then the complaint can be addressed. JMO
  15. Note: If the MSOCache folder for MS Office is removed, Office cannot perform its repair function if needed/requested. Nor cannot it perform normal Office updates unless the user has the MS Office installation CD to insert at the time of the updates. I recommend that this new entry not be added to Winapp2.ini.
  16. 19. In retrospect I have to agree. [PowerDVD*] should be deleted from Winapp2.ini. User playlists should not be removed by CCleaner. My "bad" to post a modified entry; my "good" to bring forth code that should not be in Winapp2.ini
  20. Modified entry: [PowerDVD*] - Moved to Multimedia section - Modified Detect to Detect1 - Added Detect2 - Added wildcard to FileKey1 and FileKey2 (Note: I suspect more Detect entries are needed for CyberLink's PowerDVD versions prior to PowerDVD15; however, I do not know) [PowerDVD*] LangSecRef=3023 Detect1=HKCU\Software\Cyberlink\PowerDVD Detect2=HKCU\Software\Cyberlink\PowerDVD15 Default=False FileKey1=%Documents%\CyberLink\PowerDVD*|*.pls FileKey2=%ProgramFiles%\CyberLink\PowerDVD*|*.pls
