  1. Here's January's Desktop. It's starting to look more like a Mac every day :D

The launcher isn't normally on the side but I thought you'd like to see the Vista taskbar and Start Menu.

    Hope you enjoy it

    Mps

Do you change your desktop every month?

  2. A friend just installed burnatonce and got eh below error, any clues why, thanks.

    Run-time error '91';

object variable or with block variable not set

I tried to become a member of the burnatonce forums to ask about the problem but where i need to type in the unique security code or that shows up is "Code Bit Code Bit Code Bit Code Bit Code Bit Code Bit".

  3. No you're files won't be what you've selected in EAC's clickable options, therefore they won't be 192 kbps. They will instead be what's been inputted into the parameter listed after LAME.exe, the parameter listed after LAME.exe is what the resulting encoded files will be. If you want 192kbps CBR files and not the recommended VBR files you'd use something like this (modify it to suit your needs):

    lame.exe -b 192 %s %d

Thanks for the parameters Andavari if i delete what is currently in the "Additional command line parameters" box what happens? Or should i just use the parameters you supplied. Does using the parameters you supplied ensure my audio files will be 192kb?

Additional command line options are their to encode at a particular quality, and to automatically input compliant ID tag's using LAME.exe.

I'm not sure if I'm remembering this accurately/correctly or not, therefore I quote it: "EAC shouldn't be used to input ID3v2 tags, instead setup LAME.exe to input the tags via the LAME.exe parameter used"

I've personally never let EAC input any tags, I use Tag Frontend for all tagging.

It may well be me being dumb but you don't let EAC tag your audio files when you rip them i.e. via freedb? Or are we talking about something completely different?

  4. Welcome to the forum Twiggy, I would advise to keep them because they don't take up much space and you never know, that said ccleaner has never caused any registry problems for me and i don't remember reading any on the forum.

I think the best practice is to keep say the last 2 weeks or so of backups for example when the backups are say 2 weeks old and you have no problems then remove them.

  5. I'm not being too sarcastic. :P

Actually to clarify or recant my comments; The drivers alone (not the software) don't give me any problems.

Here's when the problems start; Now if I install all of their sound card software that is resident and runs next to the system clock at every system startup that's when the trouble begins since the software itself has issues that show up in the WinXP Pro EventLog. The software is slow and sluggish hence the reason I now only install the drivers.

Caveat; By not installing the software I don't have Dolby Surround Sound/Dolby Digital support from my speakers, or DVD audio playback support. However I'm gladly giving those two up in order to avoid their software.

Same here, all i want is the driver installed but cant find a complete stable version.

  6. It is a bit of a long way just to get rid of some games yes, but you could also remove tons of other stuff with nlite which would make it worth while.

I mean check out the below screen shot everything you see ticked is no longer on my pc there is tons more it just wont fit in the same screen :D .

  7. In the read me file that came with the ProDVD.exe file which enable dvd burning in burnatonce it says

"(this one has been renewed on October 24th 2005)"

Does this mean the key has to be re-entered every so often?

  8. Andavari what file needs to be copied to the EAC installation folder LAME.EXE or lame_enc.dll?

On the link you posted(to the guide) the author of the guide posts some Additional command line options

    -V2 --add-id3v2 --pad-id3v2 --ignore-tag-errors --tt "%t" --ta "%a" --tl "%g" --ty "%y" --tn "%n" --tg "%m" %s %d

    -V3 --add-id3v2 --pad-id3v2 --ignore-tag-errors --tt "%t" --ta "%a" --tl "%g" --ty "%y" --tn "%n" --tg "%m" %s %d

    -V4 --add-id3v2 --pad-id3v2 --ignore-tag-errors --tt "%t" --ta "%a" --tl "%g" --ty "%y" --tn "%n" --tg "%m" %s %d

    -V5 --athaa-sensitivity 1 --add-id3v2 --pad-id3v2 --ignore-tag-errors --tt "%t" --ta "%a" --tl "%g" --ty "%y" --tn "%n" --tg "%m" %s %d

    he also states

"-V2 ends up at around 190kbps on average

-V3 ends up at around 175kbps on average

-V4 ends up at around 160kbps on average

-V5 --athaa-sensitivity 1 ends up at around 135kbps on average"

Does this mean my audio wont end up being 192kbs as i have selected in "Bit Rate:". Again thanks for all the help :) .

Oh year as you more the likely have guessed i am giving EAC another chance.

Edit: I noticed EAC burns audio cd's, anyone had good or bad experience with it or is burrrn beta?

  9. Thanks for the heads up TwistedMetal.

In the read me file it state's

    New Features in v3.5:

    -Restricted Sites protection

    -Mozilla/Firefox protection

    -AutoUpdate

    -and much, much more

but it done those things before.

  10. I'm having some problems with the sound in F.E.A.R. i.e. there is none ;) . I thought i would try to update my Audigy 2 ZS driver but can only find a update and a beta. Does anyone know where i can find a complete driver i.e. not a update to a existing one i already have installed and not a beta, thanks.

I have tried the creative site but all that is listed is a update and a beta.

  11. Hope you had fun on holiday. While i would love to see a beta released publicly i would be the first to download it but would it not be kind of wrong seeing that may be one of the incentives why some people donate.

    Taken from front page

" Everyone who donates ?10 ($20) or more will be sent all new releases before they're available to download on the site."

Obviously no one is going to pay ?10 for a beta of a free program but i just thought i would point it out.
