What?s new in this release?

 

This version of Registry Mechanic incorporates a number of enhancements:

 

New core architecture ? platform for innovation

Registry Mechanic's core architecture has been redeveloped to future-proof it and provide a platform for innovation. The new architecture has followed in the steps of PC Tools flagship product Spyware Doctor; by introducing a modular architecture to allow Registry Mechanic the ability to effortlessly extend its capacity and functionality in the future. This means that new tools and features can be easily plugged into the product and sent out immediately through the smart update feature.

 

Enhanced scanning & performance

With the development of the new core engine, in turn comes a faster and more secure scanner. This latest version of Registry Mechanic provides several scanning improvements to safely and quickly identify more registry errors and enhance PC performance.

 

Registry Pruning

Registry Mechanic has introduced a new feature enhancement to the registry repair process, ?Registry Pruning.? This new feature allows for the removal of subkeys if they are empty after repairing errors found within that subkey. The concept of registry pruning enhances and improves compacting and produces a more streamlined registry.

 

Registry Monitor interface

The unique Registry Monitor feature now comes with a user interface to allow users to view registry change events captured by the monitor as well as enable/disable the monitor.

 

The Registry Monitor is a real-time alerting feature that assists in keeping the system continually free of Windows Registry errors by alerting users when a specified number of changes and modifications have been made to key areas of the registry.

 

Other Registry Mechanic enhancements:

o The user interface incorporates some tweaks to simplify Registry Mechanic for novice users, and provide easier access to the Registry Monitor feature.

o The scan logging function now provides partial logging, allowing users to view the log results of scans which were terminated before completion.

o Registry Mechanic provides updated product integrity checking to ensure that all features are fully functional prior to scanning and fixing your Windows Registry.

I pretty much think Registry Mechanic is a wasted purchase with a behemoth like RegSeeker around, albeit I did grab the freebie offered by Vnunet a short time ago however I never reinstalled it after re-doing my XP installation. Sure RegMech can compact the registry and create a restore point before cleaning, etc., however compacting the registry can be done via RegCompact.NET or NTRegOpt.

My license from work is good for three years so it is a freebie, same with Spyware Doctor. I keep S D updated but don't leave it open and running since I use Spy Sweeper. Since I'm allowed to use these products at home and they are free, I figure why not?!
