Conflict with Carbonite

Every time I run a scan with CCleaner, it knocks my Carbonite back-up off line.  Then I have to reinstall it to make it work again.  I talked with Carbonite Tech Service, and they took over my computer and found what was causing my problem.  They said to program CCleaner to skip Carbonite when scanning.  I am unable to find how to do that anywhere on the CCleaner site.  Any suggestions?  I am not especially savvy when it comes to advanced IT stuff.

Which part(s) of CCleaner are you using?
Custom Clean? Health Check? Registry Cleaner?

Did Carbonite Tech tell you just what needs to be 'skipped'?

I'm not sure just how Carbonite works, but I do note that it is Cloud Based.

  • So it may be that you just need to set one or more 'Cookies to keep' to prevent you being logged out of it, something more normally done for browsers. Carbonite service should be able to tell you if it is cookies which you need to keep.
  • Or it may be that you need to 'Exclude' some Carbonite files (or possibly a registry entry if you used the Reg Cleaner) from cleaning. Again Carbonite should be able to tell you which files those would be if needed.
  • Or you may need to do both.

Either way it's fairly easy to do once you know what the cookies and/or files are.

This article tells you how to set 'Cookies to Keep':
https://support.piriform.com/hc/en-us/articles/360047828672-Select-cookies-to-clean-with-CCleaner-for-Windows#option-2-to-keep-certain-cookies-on-your-pc-0-10

This article tells you how to set up exclusion(s) once you know which files you need to exclude:
https://support.piriform.com/hc/en-us/articles/360047757492-Choose-files-you-don-t-want-to-clean-with-CCleaner-for-Windows

Like I say both are fairly simple, but shout if you need more help.

Note that keeping cookies and  'Excluding' or 'Including' things only applies in Custom Clean and not in Health Check.
Health Check cannot be customised. (If it could be customised then it would just be another Custom Clean).
So once you set up any customisation you should only then use Custom Clean, you can set Custom Clean as the 'CCleaner Home Screen' in Options>Settings.

Worried about 'Tracking Files'? Worried about why some files come back after cleaning? See this link:
