callieclaire
I'm assisting a client who has files that were deleted from her Dropbox account. Is it possible to use Recuva to recover from a cloud based software? I'm aware of the 30 day window from when the files were deleted, but didn't know if that would affect using this product. Any help would be grateful!! Thanks!

Moderators mta Posted May 9, 2017 Moderators Share Posted May 9, 2017 as @Andavari says, it won't recover from the cloud, but since Dropbox also stores your files on the PC for it to sync between the two, Recuva should be able to scan your PC for the \dropbox folder. but I don't know the inner working of Dropbox, like, if you delete a file from your PC and it then gets removed from the cloud, how is it scrubbed from the PC? - if via a Windows process, you should have a chance. Backup now & backup often. It's your digital life - protect it with a backup.Three things are certain; Birth, Death and loss of data. You control the last. Moderators Andavari Posted May 10, 2017 Moderators Share Posted May 10, 2017 I was referring to the cloud-based storage, as in it's uploaded onto a server which Recuva would have zero access to.
Moderators nukecad Posted May 10, 2017 Moderators Share Posted May 10, 2017 Are you saying that it's been more than 30 days since the files were deleted? Dropbox itself keeps a backup of deleted files for 30 days. This can be extended to a year, and also recover files that have been overwritten with a new version, if you pay extra for Dropbox plus and then get the add-on.. https://www.dropbox.com/help/security/recover-deleted-files *** Out of Beer Error ->->-> Recovering Memory *** Worried about 'Tracking Files'?
