computer temperature monitor

This is the best! Very small, no extras like fan speeds, however, it can warn and shut down, and it's free. I've used it for about two months now and it is great. When I researched it I discovered some people had issues with the install. Namely, you have to provide a number to download, if I remember correctly, and then another license number at install. It has has to be done perfectly or you end up with a nag screen. I took my time and didn't have any trouble.

thanks for that. it looks good and might do the trick. a couple of questions

can it be made to detect the temperature on external drives?

can it be made to detect the temperature on the motherboard?

what is a good temperature range to be in?

can it be made to show in a small window on the desktop?

are there other programs that can do the above if this cant?

ive been googling and tried a few, but havent found "the one" yet.

thanks! :)

I like EVEREST Home Edition 2.20. That was the last free version made before they went commercial.

It offers a whole lot more features than just CPU/HD temp and fan speeds, so it may be more than you want, but it is a well-designed, easy-to-use, informative system information utility. I use it instead of Windows System Information (Accessories > System Tools > System Information) because it loads faster, is more attractive, is set up better, and offers more information.

The installer is just under 4 MB, so it isn't too large either. Nice app; you may want to check it out.
