petercharlesfagg
I am running XP and up until the latest update nebver experienced any problems. Now after analysing, checking cookies and then initiating clean the process freezes at Internet Explorer which is the very first item on the clean. I have uninstalled and re-installed and it was OK for 2 days and now I am back to square one! I have run Malwarebytes and an AVG virus scan but it does not get any better. A few ideas would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Peter Charles Fagg Each can do but little, BUT if each did that little, ALL would be done! Moderators hazelnut Posted May 6, 2014 Moderators Share Posted May 6, 2014 Did the Malwarebytes or AVG scan find anything? Have you tried cleaning out the cookies etc from within IE first? petercharlesfagg
Malwarebytes found 10 items but studying the information it was nothing related to Ccleaner. AVG found items that were stated to be connected to the installer with Piriform and Ccleaner. The information was given as"Found malsign.generic.834 In history I found this message C:\documentsandsettings\peter\localsettings\temp\nsy2db.tmp\webapphost.dll I received this warning as I re-installed again today at 10.39 today. I duly selected delete and the subsequent result is it still freezes. Is this sufficient information? Regards, Peter Fagg Each can do but little, BUT if each did that little, ALL would be done! petercharlesfagg
I fiorgot to add that I downloaded 2 programmes one from filehippo and one from Piriform and received the same warning from AVG. Moderators hazelnut Posted May 6, 2014 Moderators Share Posted May 6, 2014 Uninstall the version of CCleaner that you have and reboot. Then download and then install the slim build from here. http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds Are you able to then use ccleaner without it freezing now? petercharlesfagg
Thankyou. At this moment in time it appears to be working correctly after installing the download suggested? I can only hope that it continues to operate thus until the next update? Should the "slim" download be used again if the problem persists? Moderators hazelnut Posted May 7, 2014 Moderators Share Posted May 7, 2014 Quite a few of us use the slim download all the time Peter. petercharlesfagg
The problem has returned and the programme freezes again! I have removed ALL the cookies on IE8 and it makes no difference whatsoever. Where do I go from here? Possibly reload an older version, if I can find it? Regards, Peter. PS Thankyou for welcoming me onsite. Each can do but little, BUT if each did that little, ALL would be done!
Moderators hazelnut Posted May 7, 2014 Moderators Share Posted May 7, 2014 I really think you should have your computer checked out at a malware removal forum as it seems quite possible that you have some re-occuring remnants left. See item 10 here for a list of sites that we recommend. If you have never been to one before just follow the relevant forums guidelines and post and logs in the forum they ask for. http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showannouncement=15&f=4 Don't worry it's not too difficult Let us know how you get on. petercharlesfagg
My thanks to especially Hazelnut for all the patience and information. The programme appears to be operating correctly, without visiting the Malware sites. I have been away for a few days and the rest seems to have done the PC some good and Ccleaner is operating correctly. Thankyou for all the help, regards, Peter Fagg.
