  1. My thanks to especially Hazelnut for all the patience and information. The programme appears to be operating correctly, without visiting the Malware sites. I have been away for a few days and the rest seems to have done the PC some good and Ccleaner is operating correctly. Thankyou for all the help, regards, Peter Fagg.
  2. The problem has returned and the programme freezes again! I have removed ALL the cookies on IE8 and it makes no difference whatsoever. Where do I go from here? Possibly reload an older version, if I can find it? Regards, Peter. PS Thankyou for welcoming me onsite.
  3. Thankyou. At this moment in time it appears to be working correctly after installing the download suggested? I can only hope that it continues to operate thus until the next update? Should the "slim" download be used again if the problem persists? Regards Peter Charles Fagg
  4. I fiorgot to add that I downloaded 2 programmes one from filehippo and one from Piriform and received the same warning from AVG. Regards, Peter Fagg.
  5. Malwarebytes found 10 items but studying the information it was nothing related to Ccleaner. AVG found items that were stated to be connected to the installer with Piriform and Ccleaner. The information was given as"Found malsign.generic.834 In history I found this message C:\documentsandsettings\peter\localsettings\temp\nsy2db.tmp\webapphost.dll I received this warning as I re-installed again today at 10.39 today. I duly selected delete and the subsequent result is it still freezes. Is this sufficient information? Regards, Peter Fagg
  6. I am running XP and up until the latest update nebver experienced any problems. Now after analysing, checking cookies and then initiating clean the process freezes at Internet Explorer which is the very first item on the clean. I have uninstalled and re-installed and it was OK for 2 days and now I am back to square one! I have run Malwarebytes and an AVG virus scan but it does not get any better. A few ideas would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Peter Charles Fagg
  7. I have asked this question before and I had forgotten doing so, therefore I have deleted my writings! Perhaps a moderator would kindly delete the whole post? Regards Peter.
  8. Thankyou for posting a reply. I think that between you the answer has been found! Using Task Manager to check, then running Ccleaner gave me the results that:- ANALYSIS COMPLETE - (2.562 secs) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 2.50 MB to be removed. (Approximate size) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Details of files to be deleted (Note: No files have been deleted yet) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Internet Explorer - Temporary Internet Files 2,556 KB 69 files Internet Explorer - Cookies 1 KB 1 files Running Ccleaner then removed the 2.50Mb. Many thanks, it just takes us older guys a little more time to evaluate and put into practice what the digital revolution is placing before us! Regards, Peter.
  9. Not sure if I understand your answer fully, have just run Ccleaner. It found 87Mb, ran cleaner, it returned information "Cleaning complete (0.876 secs)" 0 bytes removed! No details shown.
  10. Running XP Pro with Ccleaner v2.36.1233 (Example only) Analyze informs me that there is 124Mb to delete, operation of cleaner returns that 24Mb has been deleted! Closing Ccleaner, re-opening and re-analyzing reveals 0Mb, what happened to the balance? Is the programme actually performing correctly? Analysis obviously varies dependant on usage etc. but the results are usually about the same fewer Mb than initial analysis! Regards, Peter.
