Ulodesk
I have been setting up a new computer and, in the course of it, naturally downloading lots of applications and updates. No problem until I tried to download the updated version of the CCleaner tonight, adn at about 98% complete, go a popup saying the download failed because I do not have permission to change the contents of the folder. The folder happens to be my desktop, W7. I tried on both user and admin accounts, same pop-up. Has anyone else experienced this little cutie? Moderators hazelnut Posted June 2, 2012 Moderators Share Posted June 2, 2012 Aside from what could be a possible reason for this, are you able to complete the download using safe mode with networking? Also what happens if you let it download to your default download folder and not your desktop? Alan_B
I had a similar problem recently with a download of WinApp2.ini which could not replace the previous version. I found that for some unknown reason the previous version was write protected and for that reason could not be over-written or replaced. I had to use CMD.EXE and "Go Old School" on the old version. Ulodesk
Thanks to you both, I changed my download location to the Downloads folder and all was well. Hopefully it was only some Glitch with CCleaner; it's often more convenient to use the desktop.
