Cranfield Posted May 14, 2012 Share Posted May 14, 2012 I have recently switched from Firefox to Google Chrome as a web browser. When I run CCleaner it is taking at least five times as long to clean Chrome, than it did to clean Firefox. I am doing nothing different in the browsers. Is this common ? nodles Posted May 14, 2012 Share Posted May 14, 2012 (edited) The cleaning routines/areas/folders/files might/probably differs betmeen Firefox & Chrome so that could be the reason for the slowness. Exit Chrome Open task manager go to the processes tab look for chrome.exe and/or plugincontainer.exe kill all instances of it If I remember correctly chrome is more likly to collect tracking and temp files than firefox. Cranfield Posted May 15, 2012 Author Share Posted May 15, 2012 I only have Internet Explorer installed, but I don't use it at all (was advised not to uninstall it, as it might affect the operation of Windows). Cranfield Posted May 16, 2012 Author Share Posted May 16, 2012 I have downloaded and installed the latest version. It is improved somewhat, the cleaning process zooms to 43% in about 3 seconds, then stays there for 98 seconds , the reading is "Google Chrome Internet cache.
