pepperkay
Hi All: Was referred to this product from the CNet XP Forums ... Downloaded and installed CCleaner a bit ago and ran a scan ... it listed over 1,500 items for 'removal' ... How do I determine what can or should not be removed ?? ... Same for results after running the analysis function ... I'm leery of just asking the program to 'go ahead on' and delete everything but don't know enough to be absolutely sure of what it is that I am looking at ... Thanks a bunch, Pepper
Rob
You can go ahead and have it delete the files, they are most likely just temporary internet & temporary files.
Eldmannen
Yeah, you can delete everything that it lists. Just click "Analyze" then "Run Cleaner".
pwillener
I disagree; I wouldn't want to delete everything on my system. I want to keep a number of cookies of sites that I regularly visit. It can be configured under Options, Cookies, moving the ones to keep to the right. I want to keep recently typed URLs, so I uncheck that option. I want to keep auto-complete. I want to keep recent documents. Under Applications I want to keep recent documents for Adobe Reader and Office. Each user has different requirements, so I like that Ccleaner is highly configurable. It's worth to look at the options before running it for the first time. Ccleaner keeps all settings, so they can be refined after a user knows more about the various settings. Eldmannen
Yeah, it is good that CCleaner is highly configurable. Some people might prefer to keep some stuff. But none of the stuff are essential just a convience to keep so you can safely remove everything. I usually remove everything, keeps my privacy good.
