Is there a way to prevent certain sites from placing cookies on the computer?

For example: I get cookies from sites like this:

edge.sharethis.com und addfreestats.com

and want them not to be able to do it. Is it possible?

Thanks

yes there are a couple of ways, & it's often best to use a layered approach

if you use internet explorer try http://winhelp2002.m.../restricted.htm

if you use Firefox or Chrome (or Opera?) there are plugins/extensions that'll do the job (better?)

Also take a look at blocking such domains via hosts file. Doing this way will block no matter which browser is used

http://winhelp2002.mvps.org/hosts.htm

however some sites may not function properly(very few, I & many members here use the file happily 99.9999% of the time)

also do you mind if I move this to the general software section as it really doesn't pertain to ccleaner :)

ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION

DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF.

Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark)

ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T.
