Willy2
- It's not Cleanmem that's messing things up but the combination of memory management of different components (Cleanmem, Windows, Browsers, etc.) on one's system. Seems things work (somewhat) different on a Win 8/Win 8.1 system as well. I also took a close look at memory management on my Win 7 system but never experienced the problems mentioned in that thread. - I would do a number of things differently: - Disable Superfetch - Move the pagefile on a different (non SSD) drive. jecartas
For me it is the indicator that I need to look deeper :-)Haven't looked if Windows vista or 7 lets me pull thats processes using the drive, I know it doesnt in XP.But at least if I see the drive being bogged down I know to start looking. And normally something using that much drive speed your going to know which app it is :-) блиндирани врати врати метални врати метални пощенски кутии метални решетки решетки
Willy2
Question: Do other users of Cleanmem experience problems with the Mini Monitor's system tray icon ? It seems (!!!) that recently Microsoft has changed something in the Operating System (e.g. Win 7) and that in combination with Cleanmem's system tray icon causes (non fatal) problems with all the other system tray icons. On my Win 7 system I had to re-start the process "Explorer.exe" to force Windows to properly display all those icons. If too many users are experiencing this problem then that's a good reason to issue an improved version of Cleanmem. One (temporary) solution for this problem is to delay (e.g. 5 minutes) all Cleanmem related tasks upon start-up/log-in in Task Scheduler. If other users have this problem as well then I would recommend to post a reply on the PcWinTech.com website forum or send the author of Cleanmem (Piriform user name: SMC1979) a PM. @Jecartas: When one has Windows Vista and newer then one can pull up which processes are using the drive. Open "Resource Monitor" and it will provide tonnes of useful info. System setup: http://speccy.piriform.com/results/gcNzIPEjEb0B2khOOBVCHPc A discussion always stimulates the braincells !!! Moderators Nergal Posted January 23, 2015 Moderators Share Posted January 23, 2015 The only issue I've had with the cleanmem systray is it stopping responding after a hibernation (maybe 1/10 times at most) a simple kill and restart of the program fixes though. I think my task is delayed as you suggested though. My taskalso uses the same skip uac arguement as ccleaner, maybe that is a work around too? Willy2
- Some programs (e.g. Real Player, Foxit PDF reader, Java) have the nasty habit of starting extra processes and NOT stopping/removing those processes when that particular program is closed. But I use Cleanmem's Advanced Monitor to kill those processes. Simply add those process names, set the action to "Kill Process" and set the memory usage limit to 0 MB. Works excellent. Willy2
- In reply #253 I reported that Cleanmem had some problems. There's a new Cleanmem exe available. I hope it will solve reported problems. Give it a try. More info available at http://forums.pcwintech.com/index.php/topic,5614.0.html Up to now the new exec didn't push CPU to go "through the roof" on my system anymore and the system tray icon has no problem anymore of showing. So far, so good. System setup: http://speccy.piriform.com/results/gcNzIPEjEb0B2khOOBVCHPc A discussion always stimulates the braincells !!! Willy2
- Install v2.50. Then replace the old "mini_monitor.exe" file with the new one, available in that thread mentioned above. When opened it will report as "v2.51". - If no new errors show up then I assume v2.51 will be officially released. I guess that would have been obvious if I could have read the link but the link (and forum) is dead.

Willy2
- I also experience (minor) problems with the CLEANMEM (v2.51) tray icon. It doesn't Always show up when my laptop comes out of hibernation. The mini monitor is still running but the tray icon doesn't show up in the system tray. - However there could (!!!!) be a VERY simple explanation for this behaviour. When I kill & restart the process "Explorer.exe" then some system tray icons don't show up anymore because the process that controls the tray icon seem to forget to update/refresh the icon every say 30 seconds or so. I have 2 such processes. - I need to watch the behaviour of the mini monitor & tray icon before I am sure this is actually happening. For the time being it's remains an "educated guess". Willy2
@Cornish Dowser: - the program will continue to work when you disable the Mini Monitor untick "Show Monitor"). It's simply an extra visual tool on how CLEANMEM behaves. To see whether or not the mini monitor is running you just simply check Task Manager. - Cleanmem itself is run with the help Task Scheduler and after it has run the program closes itself. - Yes, "stealing the focus" is indeed a problem. And there are some other small tiny "inconveniences" but the program itself works well. But the author hasn't issued new updates in the last few years. The PcWinTech forum has indeed closed down (too much spam and very little responses).
