the situation
I went to run CCleaner. I have 'Wipe Free Space' checked off. So it was running normally, but now it is stuck at 100%. I don't want to cancel the cleaner, because my computer memory is down to 4.78 MB and i don't want to waste all that memory. What do i do? I have almost all my memory on my computer taken up and CCleaner is supposed to create a huge file then delete it, but it's not deleting because it's stuck at 100%. Moderators hazelnut Posted January 24, 2010 Moderators Share Posted January 24, 2010 You may just have to delete the huge temp file yourself. It'll be in the root of c drive with a really obscure name. Moderators Andavari Posted January 24, 2010 Moderators Share Posted January 24, 2010 What Hazelnut has told you is what you'd do with any free space wiper, sometimes things unfortunately get stuck and need manual intervention. One tip, if normally deleting that file doesn't work try to delete it via a Command Prompt using this: del "path:\filename" One big tip: Make yourself a BartPE boot disc (it's free), then when wanting to wipe free space start Windows with it. This allows you to wipe the free space without ever losing any System Restore Points, and greatly avoids any possible conflicts with running software like anti-virus, firewall, etc.
