What you do need to make sure of though, is that any additional sticks you add are not of a slower speed than the original one, otherwise all the memory will run at the slower speed. Also, I believe, if you only have one stick at the moment and are adding a higher amount of memory than the original one, then the higher sized one should be placed where the original one is and the original one placed in the next available slot.
