tcoffeep
Upon installation i got a security alert with a 98% chance of a virus? It was trying to install Adobe AIR Could this be a probable false-positive? (It was F-Secure that refused the installation) Fantasy is the celebration of what we no longer are: individuals certain of our meaningfulness in a meaningful world. The wish-fulfillment that distinguishes fantasy from other genres is not to be the all-conquering hero, but to live in a meaningful world. The fact that such worlds are enchanted worlds, worlds steeped in magic, simply demonstrates the severity of our contemporary crisis.Scott R. Bakker, Why Fantasy and Why Now? YoKenny
Its probably a false indication. By the way Adobe applications are huge bloated applications that attempt to do all manner of things. I only need a PDF reader so I use Foxit Reader which is only 2.55MB download: http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/rd_intro.php "Education is what remains after one has forgotten everything he learned in school." - Albert Einstein IE7Pro user
Moderators Andavari Posted July 6, 2008 Moderators Share Posted July 6, 2008 AntiVir, and SUPERAntiSpyware didn't find any infections when I scanned the installer, I however got the installer from Filehippo here. Adobe Reader was already bloated, however with version 9 they've really outdone themselves and made it beyond bloated, I've since reverted back to using Foxit Reader. CeeCee
As far as know, Adobe Reader has always been a memory/resource hog. It's better to use in example Foxit Reader. Btw, here's a good place to scan a single file for viruses and malware: http://virusscan.jotti.org/ It checks with several AV scanners. Moderators DennisD Posted July 7, 2008 Moderators Share Posted July 7, 2008 Adobe Reader Lite has been updated to version 9. This is a bloat-free version of the popular PDF viewer, Adobe Reader, brought to you by Shark007, the creator of Vista Codec Package. More languages to come!
