MrBill
I have a problem with settings getting lost in WinZip and have established that CCleaner is removing my settings. I sent the following to WinZip support: I was thinking about registering, but noticed that when I run the CCleaner program: http://www.CCleaner.com/download/ my "Startup Folder", "Extract Folder", and "Add Folder" settings are all lost. None of the items that are being reported as being removed by CCleaner seem to be part of WinZip, so I am lost as to why these settings are getting lost. I am running Vista Home Premium, can you help? and got the response: Those particular settings are stored in the registry under the Key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Nico Mak Computing\WinZip\directories I have no idea why these would be being cleared; I'm not personally familiar with the CCleaner application. Please let me know if you have any further questions. --Chuck Campbell, WinZip Technical Support There's probably a simple fix for my problem but I haven't been able to find it. The problem is definitely being caused by CCleaner, so maybe someone here can help? Thanks, MrBill
Moderators Andavari Posted August 27, 2007 Moderators Share Posted August 27, 2007 Welcome to the forums MrBill! The simple fix: 1. Launch CCleaner. 2. On the large Cleaner button click the Applications tab. 3. Look for WinZip in the list, and untick it. You're good to go, CCleaner won't clean WinZip anymore.
