  1. Huh - I somehow missed this! What I'd really like is for this feature to work automatically along with the rest of the "Run Cleaner" cleanup . . . OTOH the way that CCleaner does it now definitely is better than using Disk Cleanup! - Bill
  2. I am running Windows 7 x64. I just ran the MS Disk Cleanup utility and selected the option to remove all but the last restore point. When done, the amount of data on my HD had decreased by 15 GB! Could the feature of removing all but the last restore point be added to CCleaner? Thanks, Bill
  3. May 8, Microsoft came out with a Vista update which fixed this cookie problem! - Bill
  4. I updated to CCleaner 2.19.900 and IE8 at the same time. Immediately I started having a problem which I think is probably caused by IE8, but I'm not 100% sure. Nobody in the "microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general" news group has been able to solve the problem, so I thought I'd try here. ------------------------ I have a number of cookies I set for various websites which save user-id information, page defaults used by the web page, etc. Once I set the cookies the various websites I use continue to recognize them and they all work fine for the remainder of the day, even though I may close and re-open IE8 a number of times. These cookies continue to work even after a reboot, as long as the reboot is the same day. But when I boot up the next day, IE8 no longer recognizes any of these cookies. I've checked and they are still in my cookie folder. FWIW, I never had this problem in IE7 . . . what's going on? OS is Vista Premium, fully updated. IE8 is the latest non-beta version. The IE8 Privacy settings are still at the default - medium. I've made no changes to my security software when upgrading to IE8, so I don't think this is part of the problem. I've been playing around with different things and noticed something odd. To illustrate, I've copyied the full name of one of the problem cookies below: May 6 --------- bill@www.dvdpricesearch[2].txt (86 bytes) May 7 --------- bill@www.dvdpricesearch[3].txt (85 bytes) May 6 the cookie worked worked fine all day. May 7 the cookie was not recognized and IE8 built the [3] cookie. All of the cookies I use did the same thing - Help! Thanks, Bill
  5. I restored the folders mentioned in post #13 above, then checked Adobe Flash Player . . . the cookies went away when I ran CCleaner. Thanks for the tip Lonnie! - MrBill
  6. I just checked and found that ALL the offending cookies were in these two paths: C:\Users\[My-user-name]\AppData\Roaming\Macromedia\Flash Player\#SharedObjects C:\Users\[My-user-name]\AppData\Roaming\Macromedia\Flash Player\macromedia.com\support\flashplayer\sys Deleting just one folder did not do the trick, so I deleted the contents of both folders and the cookie list went blank. So was deleting these 2 folders a mistake? I doubt it but if so I'm sure I'll be able to fix it when needed. Hopefully the CCleaner author(s) now have the ammunition they need to make a permanent fix to their fine program! -MrBill
  7. That's an assumption - you know what they say about ass-u-me! I'm having exactly the same problem, this is with IE8 and CCleaner 2.19.900. Thanks, MrBill
  8. I have a problem with settings getting lost in WinZip and have established that CCleaner is removing my settings. I sent the following to WinZip support: I was thinking about registering, but noticed that when I run the CCleaner program: http://www.CCleaner.com/download/ my "Startup Folder", "Extract Folder", and "Add Folder" settings are all lost. None of the items that are being reported as being removed by CCleaner seem to be part of WinZip, so I am lost as to why these settings are getting lost. I am running Vista Home Premium, can you help? and got the response: Those particular settings are stored in the registry under the Key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Nico Mak Computing\WinZip\directories I have no idea why these would be being cleared; I'm not personally familiar with the CCleaner application. Please let me know if you have any further questions. --Chuck Campbell, WinZip Technical Support There's probably a simple fix for my problem but I haven't been able to find it. The problem is definitely being caused by CCleaner, so maybe someone here can help? Thanks, MrBill
