Trouble with "Services.msc"

JAGO

Recommended Posts

If you type msconfig in Run, one of the tabs there will show the services running and a tick box to stop or start them.

I have heard that is not really recommended. I have used this method before without problems, but I may have been lucky.

Yeah I'm not going to do it that way :P. It's not my computer like I said and if I can't do it properly it just won't get done (my buddy is on vacation and asked me to tune up his PC).

Sounds like the "Admin" permissions are messed up.

You could log in as the "real" administrator to see if you get access then.

XP Pro:

log off,

Press CTRL ALT DEL twice

Type Administrator as the username

and (hopefully) leave the password blank.

XP Home

Restart,

Press F8 and choose Safe Mode

click Administrator

Have you checked in c/windows/system32 to see that services.msc is still there?

Could the file associations be a bit mixed up? If so there is a reg fix for .msc files here.
