CCleaner just closes! help

I have the same problem. Just closes without cleaning. I am using the latest version and even re-installed it. Program seems to clean OK under normal deletion. The problem only occurs using secure deletion.

Never had a problem with the old version. Just happens with the new version on a newly installed version of MS XP (My hard drive died)

UPDATE: Also works fine when using "simple overwrite" The DOD spec seems to be the problem.

hey, i wish someone could help me, when i click on run cleaner, CCleaner just closes out as if you were to hit the "x", but i can scan for issues and fix same, but not clean

Just toggle through the secure deletion methods; the act of changing them works for me.

Also, just turning the secure deletion method off and on solves the problem too. Be sure to click analyze before

you clean too.

Here all works fine using every type of file deletion.

WinXP Pro SP2 fully patched

IE 7.0.5730.11

I think it's a Vista specific problem. Also, turning secure deletion off and on doesn't seem to be

as effective as just toggling through the deletion methods.

I have the same problem with XP sp2. Same solution i.e. choose Normal and then Secure works.

Well I thought I had the solution but the problem has returned. I've gone back to v38 to get reliable secure deletion.
