  1. I wonder how many people actually call them for support at those prices.(I'm sure its a ton. <_< )

I want to try the new office, the interface is so funky looking but everyone that I know who has used it said that they liked it. I'm really not liking MS's take on their next os.

    Make support cost more

    Make interface bulky and colorful

Input crazy DRM crap.(see djlizards blog for an interesting story about changing hardware with vista)

Do you have a link for this blog?

  2. After visiting their site and using their tool, my fans started acting up. Also told me I couldn't run a game which I already run, although they linked me to a site to buy necessary equipment.

I re-installed XP, fans work properly again. Never hear them unless I am running the game they said I couldn't run. Or at start-up.

I will never ever even consider using their tool again.

Read the box game comes in.

  3. We are a veterinarian clinic. Our software specialist told me that reg cleaner is a problem for our computer. We had installed a brother fax/scanner, and suddendly the scanner was no more detected, can it come from the use of c-cleaner? I have made a search for errors, and then corrected all errors. But i do not remember if this was at then same time. Can you help me, because I find your program very practical.

    > kind regards Daniele

    >

Just re-install the software for it.

IE7 disabled a lot of scanners. If you just got it, that may have been the problem.

In that case, you may need new drivers or a fix from brother.

  4. All I need is to upgrade my RAM to 1GB or 2GB and then my processor to 1.8 or 2.2ghz

    My system right now is

    AMD Athlon Xp 2000+ 1.67ghz

    PC2100/PC2700 - 768MB of RAM

    80GB HDD

    POWERCOLOR ATI 9600Pro 256MB 128-BIT 400/400

But hey I'm not going to Vista for about a year or so

I agree with waiting at least a year, as with any new product.

A couple of my friends went and got Vista, foolishly IMHO, were experiencing a lot of problems, running slow etc... They had a Gb of memory, installed another Gb, no problems now. Vista needs a Gb of ram to run, then you need another Gb of ram to do anything with.

  5. Doubt it was CCleaner, sounds more like a hardware problem.

Well its been a month and a half. I am going to have to go with my original statement as no new issues have arose and that is a lot of time for a hardware problem to get worse.

  6. Just curious, how much time do you spend each week/month on updates/scans?

I do nothing automatic on my computer to ensure it is actually done.

I figure about ten hours per month on my XP ensuring security and everything is up to date.

    Thanks for the replies.

  7. Yus but if you loan out computers as a company to multiple users, and you have template acounts then it is useful to delete all their junk in one go.

Its not usefull for a home user but i know quite a few admin who will like this.

A company should be able to purchase a program. I believe this to be morally appropriate for any company that wishes to make a profit. Non-profit company/organization is a different story.

Maybe you should inquire/suggest about a corporate version of CCleaner!

  8. I've used AVG free for over three years and have never been infected, and on the occasions I've visited dodgy sites, or downloaded something dodgy, AVG has always caught it.

I am getting confused. If the free version does not have real time protection, how is it catching it?

  9. Friend of mine was having problems with his computer after accidentally leaving it on-line all night. Got up in the am monitor was showing "No Signal." Couldn't turn computer off. After pulling plug and plugging back in, couldn't turn it on. Spent most of a day trouble shooting. After forcing it to reconfigure by installing and uninstalling a different video card, got it to start long enough to run CCleaner with the registry option. I assume it was a corrupt registry. Been fine ever since.

    Thank-you very much CCleaner.

I made sure to tell him to show his appreciation as well since even a $20 donation is much cheaper than what he thought he was going to be paying. Nor did I accept anything even though he tried hard to get me to. I gave all the credit to CCleaner.

    Thanks again,

  10. I assume gparted works with windows? If it does, do you know of a good link for instructions on use? Also will this destroy info on existing partitions?

    I assume I assumed wrong.

I used Partition Manager 2005, worked great!

  11. Instead of asking which anti-virus is the best, I thought I would ask the experts what is being used by people the most that you need to assist with? NOrtON, AVG etc..

I think this may be useful for determining a good anti-virus software to use as it will help to eliminate some of the many many suggestions on what to use. Maybe even post some actual stats?

Replies from all who assist in removal will be appreciated.

    Thank-you very much,

  12. I just checked the cache size on Firefox, ran CCleaner with the Firefox "internet cache" option checked to clear it out. After running, the cache size remained the same. Then did a restart, the cache is still there.

Is this a problem with the latest version of Firefox or is something else happening??

    From the guide:

    Temporary Files

Many applications use temporary files when working to save information. These are normally deleted upon exit, but occasionally they can be left behind. Normally when the program is not shut down properly. This option will safely delete these files. (By default it only removes files that haven't been used in the last 10 days, this prevents current temp files from being removed. There is an option to turn off this feature on the Options window.)

  13. Bill Gates signature, zomg lol! :D

9 editions, thats so dumb. Is 9 editions really needed?

    Answer: Nope.

Seems like a bad strategy that will confuse people, but maybe its meant to confuse consumers in order to milk them.

Apple doesn't have 9 different versions of Mac OS X.

Nor do they have 90% of the market share. On that perspective, Apple has more OS's per market share. I wish Apple did have 90% though so that malicious people would leave us windows people alone and attack them instead. I do agree that 4, sorry 9, is a bit much though.

  14. I used ccleaner to clean my laptop and deleted everything recommended. Unfortunately I did not make a backup of the registry and now I have problems with msn live messenger. sometimes msn live messenger doesn't start at all and other times even if it starts and logs on, it immediately shuts down stating a fatal error. I uninstalled and re-installed the program at least 3 times - but the problem still persisits.

Worst, I suggested ccleaner to 2 of my friends and they are having similar problem. Do suggest what can be done to remedy this.

    V. Johnson

Quit using msn messenger or any like it. It is famous for spreading viruses. Don't even have to have it running and it will spread a virus via email to another user who doesn't even use a messenger. On my computer it is uninstalled immediately after NOrtON (after reinstalling my bundled OS).

  15. Hello everyone

I'm using FF 1.0.7 XP Home. Where is, or is there a check mark to delete the drop down in the addy bar (previous addresses already visited). I don't want to delete the history as I use my own system colours to be able to tell which links I have visited already.

    Hope I've explained that right

I hope I am in the right section. If not please correct me & tell me which this is supposed to be in

    Thank You, meadowmuffin
