You can look if there is an updated theme. If not you can try contact the author and explain to him the flaws of his theme. You might also be able to fix it yourself by editing the theme. If you look for a theme, you might look for it to be valid.
Well, the author to the theme & website don't appear to be around anymore. What I could do is find one that is similar. Another thing could be to download a notepad/html program that uses line numbers and correct each line. I'd have to print out the entire report and do it line by line. I really don't know if my patience will hold up though. Today of all days has been a bad and stressful one.
  2.

LOL, you're writing of that had me thinking it should be changed to MyDumbSpace.com or DumbMySpace.com.
LOL! I have one but don't use it. Only reason is if someone wanted to find me. Long lost friends, if you know what you mean.
  3. You're old school! :D

According to Wikipedia, the latest release of OS/2 Warp was version 4.52 in December, 2001. o.o

    Still plenty of money.

Yeah, I remember using DIP switches to overclock my Intel Pentium 150 to 166 MHz. :D

I remember using jumpers on my old SCSI disks to define the LUN id.

And using terminators on the last SCSI disk in the chain.

MCA the bus? I am not too familiar with that one. Earliest computer I had was a 386SX think it was around 16 MHz and 8 mb RAM or something like that.

    SIP memory?

Wow, OS/2 was around for that long? Interesting.

Yep, I remember SCSI and hated it! MCA, Micro Channel Architecture. It was mainly used in IBM PS/2 machines in the early 90s.

Single inline memory Module. It's mostly used in old printers. First computer was a 286 w/o math co. My 286 had a slot for sip memory 4mb.

  4. If the memory and the disk wouldn't be bad, then 100$ for a computer wouldn't be so bad, if he could write documents for school on it, and surf Internet and visit his dumb MySpace.

True, "Dumb MySpace" my thought exactly...:)

  5. Damn, BBS you're old school! :D

OS/2 Warp, I never got to use that system, just seen it running once at the Dentist or something.

$750 - $1000, how could you afford that?

4 lines, how do you get that?

I ran Telegard, Renegade, PCboard, even messed around with WildCat! The main file for OS/2 was the Config.os2, if memory serves me correctly. I used OS/2 til 96.

As for the $$$, I was living at home at the time and so I had NO BILLS, but my phone. I worked and still had money left over to do other things. I only ran the bbs on 4 lines for about a year, til I move to Atlanta.

Well, in NYC you can get anything you want as long as you have the $$$. It was New York Telephone at the time, then NYNEX, Bell Atlantic and finally Verizon.

I miss those days it was alot different. There wasn't really a World Wide Web. Computer hardware was fun, jumpers, dip switches, terminators, sip memory, MCA. I can go on... :) You really had to earn you A+ back then. Actually, they didn't even have A+ back then.

  6. http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fstb575.com%2F

    276 parsing errors.

    xoops.css

    No errors.

styleNN.css a couple of parsing errors.

    http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/validat...;usermedium=all

Thanks for letting me know, unfortuantelly, I'm not that good to repair all of those errors. Most of those came from the theme that I use. Right now, I'm in no way of switching to another one. However, if you have any ideas let me know.

  7. My buddy Kyle bought a used computer for $100. In my opinion he got ripped off. Here's what he got:

    15 flat screen crt monitor

    amd duron 750

    512 mb ram

    cdr burner

    dvd rom

    30 gig hdd

Now the problems: One of the memory sticks was bad and the other one is bad too but runs.

I'm running MEMTEST86 on it now, for the last 3hr 53mins.

The hdd has 11 mb of bad sectors on it. I still have yet to run spinrite on it to really assess the damage to the hdd. All in all he wanted it for school and internet. There is no freaking way he can use this system for internet. But, then again all he does is MYSPACE anyways! Worse case scenerio he can use the left over components for spares.

    Cheers,

  8. Here in North Carolina we have a 3MB DSL connection

What part of NC? I used to live in Wilmington. Nice town but their TWC Sucks big time over there! Their connections used to go down every single day. I had a monitor setup to look after it. It was 4 months of hell! Glad when my contract was over and I can go to another state to work!

  9. I really like the colors and the setup on the homepage [and the other pages]. The attack map is very interesting but the white background is so bright and the style is quite a bit more basic than the high tech look of the rest of the page so it kind of distracts. It seems to leap off the page. Is there possibly a way to darken the background?

That is an image off of the dshield.org website. Actually, that attack map is holding the entire center column inline. I could replace it. I might just do that. It doesn't present enough info for my taste.

I think the 911 pictures and info are very interesting. I used to be almost obsessed with 911 and looking through the pictures brings some of that back. But that's good and that's important to me because as painful as it can be, We Must Never Forget.

We must never forget! I couldn't agree more.

On the 911 info pages could you add links to the official government reports? At the moment I can't remember the organization that produced the lengthy technical report with many photos and diagrams included. I'll look for it and let you know what it's title is if you're interested. I'm sure the material linked to on your site refers to it but I haven't read through most of it yet.

If I'm not mistaken it's the 911commissionreport.gov. I believe I have it in there somewhere if I don't I'll add it in. There is a box called "my shared bookmarks" I will be migrating all of those to my site and later eliminating that block all together.

Lastly, would you consider adding a page for Flight 800 information and theories? I was watching TV that night and in the live interviews of witnesses every one saw a streak of light eminate from the ground [more than likely the ocean] and then the explosions in the air. I think the conclusion that it was a spark in the fuel tank or a buildup of static electricity is preposterous. I agree with Saturday Night Live's comment on a Weekend Update segment that is more accurate: Flight 800 was brought down by a spark in the fuel tank that occurred after the plane was struck by a missile.

Definatelly, I'll put that on my to-do list. Anything and everything to do conspiracies I want to touch on even if briefly.

All in all I think your think your website is great and I'm very impressed :) ! Keep up the good work.

Thanks again for your valued input. Pretty much everything is public except posting in the forums, polls, or surveys.

    Cheers,

  10. Hello All!

Noticed on this system that I purchased, QuickPar is slower then hell! On my old AMD XP 2500 w/ 768 Ram, it ran much faster. This screenshot is the only time it ran fast. 99% of the time the "@ xxx" are very low. I'm aware that the amount and size of the files does have a deciding factor. Also, what your CPU is doing. QuickPar is set to take HIGH Priority when it runs.

Are there any other programs out there that do the same thing so I can gauge the speed?

    Thanks,

  11. This was the dumbest thing about the whole process. I actually installed the thing three times and each time I got to that log in screen and thought it was freezing when I typed in a username. Knowing this now just makes me even madder because no where in any documentation that I read(and yes I read wikis, forums, faqs, ect) did it say that nothing would show up in the password field. It really makes no sense. <_<

I had a similar experience with my Endian Firewall. It does the same thing but the password is hidden. You don't see anything no stars no symbols, nothing. All you do see is the blinking curser moving to the right. Figured at first it was a problem. After the second install I figured it out.
  12. I remember I had modem pools that I illegally did connect to, so my parents wouldn't kill me for getting huge bills.

The dial-up noise signal beep-bop-bop-beep-beeeeep thing that you hear when the modem dials up makes me so nostalgic. Dial-up is old school. :D

Try this on for size. I used to run a 4 line BBS in NYC back in 92. The modems were 16.8 USR HSTs with a 4 port Digiboard running under OS/2 Warp. On top of that I used to have running Frontdoor with Echomail/Netmail server. My monthly phone would ranged from $750 - $1000. That included all 4 lines and long distance with MCI.

  13. HI!!! Im having problems burning DVD movies, my laptop has 2 default writing applications,,

NTI CD&DVD maker7 and Cyberlink power producer,,

I downloaded a dvdrip - avi file,, how can i write this to disc?

what is the right format or layout? DVD, VCD, data??

If the file is an AVI you can convert it to DVD format with ConvertxtoDVD. If you need to go the other direction from DVD to AVI. You can use DVDzip.

    Good Luck,

  14. "Why not? If you aren't doing anything bad, you got nothing to worry about", or?

I would always want privacy, even if I was only looking up a recipe on how to make pasta sauce.

I'd have to agree. After 911, our govt can't be trusted! If the govt wants to track me, they alredy do believe it or not. The CIA has 16 files open and active on EVERY SINGLE AMERICAN.

    Cheers,

  15. Torpark is Firefox Portable with Tor onion routing. It chains your data through multiple Tor servers which make it more anonymous because the target webserver which you contact won't see your IP address. However, your surfing will be slower.

Now while speaking of anonymity, there is a LiveCD distribution based on the OpenBSD operating system called Anonymous.OS by kaos.theory security research. OpenBSD is well known for its extreme stance on computer security.

Anonymous OS, I'll have to play around with it. As for this browser, I'll install wireshark and see what kinda traffic it will generates. See what's under the hood.

  16. I think that Symantec is pissed because Microsoft don't make a way to allow them to replace the Windows Security Center with their own thing or something like that.

Sure, because they know that they are BLOATWARE!

I wont be using Vista either though. You need a state-of-the-art graphics card with huge amounts of RAM and much processor power just to run the graphical user interface.

Another tactic to drive the computer industry and push corps. and users alike to upgrade hardware. Second, with new security measures in place it will change the entire computing world. We saw this coming years ago. TPA, if memory serves me correct.

Vista with its new DRM will perform useless operating such as encryption video in its PVP (Protected Video Path) system, because they want make it more difficult to rip videos and stuff. So basically it does nothing good for you, and waste your CPU cycles. Hollywood got their will through here.

More of corps influencing what we use. More of our rights restricted or eliminated all together.

The security in Vista will be better though. Normally users wont run with full administration privileges, something thats been the norm in the Unix-world for about uhm 35 years?

Of course M$ is finally playing catching up.

    Cheers,

  17. Hello All!

Thanks for a few users here with there vast knowledge and information. Here is an example.

    Eldmannen - Iptables

To be a good security & admin professional you need to know "IPTABLES" That's what Linux firewalls are made up under the hood. IPTables is the driving force w/o it you have no firewall.

HOWEVER, I'll need to implement a test network in order to learn and execute IPTables effectively. At this point in time. I have my lil network running the way I want it. Rather play it save then sorry and screw something up. Any recommendation on how I can build the test network BUT use my current connection and keep my PRODUCTION network isolated and intact? This project will require alot of time to work out.

    Humpty - Bold Fortune's guide

Here too is another long guide to read and disgust but worth it. All I need for this is to print out the entire guide and read/memorize it. Once I feel I understood it, then I can get a cd-rw and start the process of building the ISO.

Another thing Humpty does that I was impressed with is his drive setup. I'd like to have some insight as to how you installed Ghost and made it work for you? Pretty nifty idea, but a smart one.

For anyone interested, here is my network layout?

    Westell 6100(Bellsouth 3m/384k) Port 1 of WRT54GC

Win 2k Adv Srv (File Server) Port 2

Supplies 2 network drives that are public to local

    My workstation Port 3

    1 public share to local

Why, is the ADSL modem on port 1 of the router and not on the WAN port? You CAN'T access the modem's web interface from the WAN port. Also, the modem at this time is responsible for all functions (firewall, dhcp & ppoe)

What I wanted to do was to use ClarkConnect ($295) and it do all of it. From a security standpoint not wise and so I've dropped the idea all together. So Endian Firewall 2.0 will go on another machine. I'll keep the file server right where it is now.

    Thanks again guys!

  18. Yeah, Wikipedia is awesome, I use it alot and I am also a avid contributor.

Iptables can be complex, but it sure does provide the possibility to configure it and control it in-depth to great extents.

And while using it, you hopefully learn a thing or two about routing, Internet, TCP/IP, etc.

Thanks again for your insight. I now have more projects to work on.

  19. 60,000k memory on my home XP pc but only uses 6,000 on a W2000 pc at work? Do you think I have a problem? Thank You!

From my observations Explorer is hungry hog! I turn off all of the eye candy, wallpapers. Also, turn on classic look. Another thing is the transparencies and alpha blending. If there is a way to slim it down even more, I'm all ears?

    Explorer.exe Current, 8,900K, Peak 15,816K

Window+Pause/Break Key > Advanced > Settings > Adjust for Best Performance. That will help out alot.

    Good Luck,

  20. TrackMeNot

is a lightweight browser extension that protects web-searchers against surveillance and data-profiling. It does so not by means of concealment or encryption (i.e. covering one's tracks), but instead, paradoxically, by the opposite strategy: noise and obfuscation. With TrackMeNot, actual web searches, lost in a cloud of false leads, are essentially hidden in plain view. User-installed TrackMeNot works with the Firefox Browser and popular search engines, e.g. AOL, Yahoo!, Google, and MSN, and requires no 3rd-party servers or services.

    TrackMeNot

Thanks a Million!!!!!!! For pointing this out. I knew everything we do on the internet is tracked some sort of way, but not this bad. Then again I'm not surprised.

  21. With some OEM's you buy a computer without operating system though, I think it is possible with Dell. Unfortunately in many cases you have to pay the unfair "Windows Tax" though.

Having a streamlined CD with all the service packs and patched and SATA device drivers are nice though. :)

Windows Tax, are you freaking kidding me!?!?! Man, another way M$ to make money. What I did was took XP from my Dell and let nLite rip it apart. I don't like XP MCE, I don't use it. Anyways, I took all of the patches and security fixes off of Autopater XP and dropped them right into the integration panel. Next I found all of the drivers my system uses and dropped them into the drivers portion. Later, I removed hardware I wasn't going to use like laptops, or ISDN. Then it was off to removing programs, like MSN Explorer and WMP. Afterward, I removed some services. This is where I think it killed me! I was very care to turn off what I didn't need and make sure there were no dependencies associated with the service. The last part is making the ISO.

What I'm planning on doing is purchasing a new fresh copy of xp pro sp2, and work nLite from there. Something in that Dell factory build it didn't like.
