  1. well, ive been trying to burn a DVD off of my PC and its not working.

ive tried using Nero 7ultra and also alcohol 120%.

if anyone knows how to burn one using nero, let me know.

BTW*, the movies use codecs :D

If you have 2 drives then burn a copy on the fly. Be careful of buffer underruns. Also the 2 drives need to be on seperate IDE channels. In this configuration that will reduce overhead. Alcohol 120% is awesome app. Make sure that your ASPI driver is working correctly. There is a util in Nero that can check for that. As for Codecs, I go to Free Codecs.
  2. No offense to religions worldwide however I put my faith in science because I need hard evidence to support claims versus just reading them in "the book".

I believe that is called Scientology. However, current science CAN'T or try to EXPLAIN the Paranormal.

Check out this movie The Entity, this movie gives me the creeps! Science tries to contain a supernatural entity and can't.

  3. Hello All!

My fiance got a new eMachine W3503 for a birthday gift. 4 things are wrong with it.

    1. It's built w/ 512 mb of ram, confirmed it in the bios., XP is reporting 376 mb ram. Maybe onboard video has 136 mb of it. Doubt it.

    2. When more then 1 window is open I can't go back and forth between windows with the mouse only the keyboard. The taskbar doesn't allow her to switch or pop up to allow her to swtich over to other open windows.

    3. She is only able to switch via alt-tab, to close a window she has to right click on the taskbar.

    4. When she attempt to click on a window / close every window is place in the background and is greyed out.

What I have tried is to put is "Lauch explorer in a seperate process, and "Put 16 bit apps to a seperate process"

    Any ideas would be welcomed,

  4. Hi Everyone!

Okay, so my stepdad sent me this link, and told me that he bought 3 of their computers this way.

Have any of you bought a refurbished pc before? Some of the pc's seem to be really good deals, and just skimming through I noticed some as low as $300. :o

I think that they just don't come with monitors which really doesn't matter to me. :)

Hey, thanks for pointing this out. I wish I would've saw this in January. I would've bought one of them with my $1,500 credit line. More machine for your $$$. If I happen to get a banged up case, I'd just order a new case and xfer over all of the parts.
  5.

We really need an expert such as Eldmannen to test these things out. :)
LOL, Yeah, M$ TCP/IP Stack -vs- Linux TCP/IP Stack. Me personally, I think Linux would win. I've used both in the past. Linux in my opinion use less overhead then M$, it has a quicker response time.
  6. Been using Opendns for a couple of days now things seem to be working fine with the net surfing a bit snappier.
Hey are you happening to use FastFox? If so you can see what your load times are. If you can check that for me and tell me the differences. If so then I can try to get my firewall to do this.

    Thanks,

  7. Do you remember the first television series of Star Trek way before any movies were made.

Voyages to other solar systems and discovering different life forms which fascinated me as a very young fellow.

Not like the movies of Star Trek and Star Wars.

Good versus evil with good always triumphant.Boring stuff! :(

2001 - A Space Odyssey and Contact are my type of movies and mind food.

You and I would definately get alone.........:)
  8. Good. They really should be paranoid about the hard disk drives.

I am not sure a sledge hammer is the best way to ensure the data is not recoverable though.

That's what they chose to do. I wasn't the program manager.
  9.

...to make it rather impossible for anyone to restore your once deleted personal files from the data-carrier, it is important to wipe the disks. If those disks even hold some confidential informations from your company, you can be held responsible, in case those files can be restored and misused later on - just formatting the drive doesn?t wipe the files - they can still be restored afterwards...
That reminds me. Years ago we took drives and put a sledge hammer to them. It was fun too. The bank was to paranoid in recycling the drives.

"There are so many interconnections within the network that it would be difficult to find enough targets, and the right targets, to do serious damage to Internet reliability nationwide."

    Story

Interesting that they say this. Check this article out. http://www.internetnews.com/dev-news/article.php/1486981

    Root Servers http://www.root-servers.org/

If memory serves me correct there are 11 states that have partial power grid systems on the internet.

The above article has me especially PISSED!

  11. its actually possible and quite easy.

since this is just for your use, you could use frames.

have your email account come up on one side and on the other side have links.

you can make links to different stuff, for ex. 192.168.1.101 is what would put in for the target of a link to access your router configuration.

you could also put in C:/program files/avast/avast config.exe as a target for a link.

just add the links to all of the pages, of programs, and your good to go :D

Interesting approach. I'll try that and see what it does.
  12. Google Calendar comes to mind.

    http://calendar.google.com/

I like google myself, but I've been using yahoo Cal for years. Everyone over here as agreed to use Yahoo since they all already have accounts. Me personally, I'm not happy. Yahoo STILL doesn't support iCAL. Yahoo Calendar is boring and stale. I'm so surprised Yahoo updated everything else except their briefcase & Calendar.

Any more bright ideas send them this way.

    Thanks,

  13. Hello All!

Does anyone know of a Group Calendar that I can use and integrate into my website? My Fiance has been elected the FAMILY TAXI. So, she need all of the people she has to cart around their appointments and when. Each person would log into my website and input their info. Registered user can see their appointments.

    Thanks,

  14. Hello All!

Heres another project I thought of. Here we go! I'd like to have one place where I can got to all of my device mgmt pages like my firewall, linksys, uptime, modem, web cam. Any device that have as a web gui interface. Next I use a few programs for remote acces, putty, remote desktop. Winscp. Is there a way that I can make a nice lil web page portal and make it my home page? Also I'd like to see my cal and email.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

  15. I think your missing the point.... You cant buy osx and stick it on any pc. To use OSX you must run it on mac hardware. Its not like windows where you can buy or build your computer and then use XP or whatever else you want. Macs use proprietary hardware.
How is that done? I have very little knowledge of the Mac. Only thing that comes to mind is that it's branded to Mac hardware IDs. Once OS X is installed it binds itself to your hardware. Just a quess.

I'd like to get one of those Mini Macs and add it to my network.

    Cheers,

  16. thanks for the fast reply. but i also have another question

Is Winrar the only application which has that feature?

I need to be sure if there are other available apps so I can choose which is best to download.

That's the thing the internet is a very big place and tons of stuff is out there. I use what works Winrar is what I've used for years.
  17. thanks for the links. Maxthon is an alternative. IE7 is installed here but Maxthon has priority. My fiance and I play Pogo alot. For some freaking reason Pogo will not work for %^$# on Firefox. Plus, I'm working on my website need to be able to see how it's gonna look in both browers. Any ideas or suggestions are welcomed.

  18. I know there is an application used to compress a file and then by an option could be able to split the file into 2? into 2 seperate files in which you can extract them to one folder so it can become the whole file again?

lol.. sry for my crappy explanation... but i need to know the app that has that feature.

    thanks?

No problem. Right from memory Winrar can span volumns. You can probably tell it how large to make the files before it splits them.

    Hope this helps,

  19. To whom this may concern,

I'd like to add your CCleaner logo to my smartparners logo block on my site. I'd like to have your permission before I do so.

    Thanks,

  20. Hello Admiral,

Sorry to see you have had a rough day, here are a few lines that will hopefully make you smile a bit.

Thanks for the kind words, but around here it's always stressful, there is always some drama going on.

I like your site personally. Its a little different from the same old bland stuff out there. Its not my area of interest, but it looks like you worked hard on the making of it, and is a well thought out website.

Two Thumbs up is given by the responder. :)

Thanks. What are you interested in? Maybe if it's something that I like we can defiantely work on opening it up. That's the whole thing you want people to come to your site and visit often.

It may be my computer, but I find the dark blue writing on the home page quite difficult to read.

It is obvious a lot of hard work has gone into it, don't give in !!

Sorry you are having trouble. I'm in the process of looking for a similar theme and replace the current one. That might help in your case. As for hard work it sure is. I try to work on it a lil each day.
