  1. I don't see that on my Vista system.

What settings do you have in CCleaner?

Just the default settings I've had for years. I really don't even have to use CCleaner since I browse sandboxed most of the time (you just delete the sandbox). By the way, this is some crazy IE setting that shows IE temps are being deleted and in no way is it CC fault. I'll capture a screeny of it later. I don't even have the notebook booted at the moment.

  2. So for the heck of it I upgraded to 8 even though I never use IE. On both the desktop and Vista notebook it only took about five to ten minutes to download and install. Now the annoyance! On the Vista laptop, every time CC is run it throws up a "Cleaning Browsing History" textbox, even when you haven't visited IE. I pocked around the security and tool settings in IE8, including internet options but I can't get rid of that annoying box. Nothing like this is showing up with XP. Any help please? Thank You!

  3. The easiest way to show you the difference is with a couple of screenshots, both taken with exactly the same number of windows open on the screen:

Fullscreen: (press F11 to remove your real screen, and see the fullscreen image more clearly)

    Active Window:

No matter how many windows are open, only one of them is "active" at any one time. Faststone captures that window, in this case CCleaner.

    Hope that helps.

Thank you Dennis! I swear though I get the toolbars in Active mode with both Gadwin and FastStone. No big deal of course because I can just use "rectangle". This Active snapped with FastStone and it shows all of the browser as full screen would have.

  4. I've been reading about this in other tech forums and it actually maybe beneficial. Relative to the privacy issue (and I'm not condoning it), some of the threads mention how this is happening with many software distributions. My perfect example is Java Quick Starter as I never installed that but it's one of my extensions.

  5. besides all of the extensions, is the ability to customize and/or tweak via about:config or chrome user. I'm reminded today of the numerous times I've taken advantage of these features as I disabled the "Awesome Bar", which I never, never, ever take advantage of (use). Could you ever imagine changing the height of the Menu, Address and Tab bars, as I have via Chrome User, in another browser? They just built this thing so the individual can customize it to their liking!

  6. I have to do this a lot, so I'm giving this a try.

And although it says you need Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 (current version), it's working fine on my XP system with only .NET 1, 1.1, and 2 installed.

If you use it for images, change the "View" to "list".

  7. Boy do I need this! First, a brief explanation for our UK friends. Sportsmen in the USA hang infrared cameras, called trail cams, to get pictures of deer (or whatever). I'm using one behind my house now that deer season is over to see how many big bucks made it through hunting season. I put corn out and check the memory card daily. With the camera set to take pictures every five minutes, I have been averaging over 30 images/night. After I move them to a folder, I only keep the images of the bucks and delete the rest. Well I'm always slipping (or something) off the Ctrl key and having to start over or worse, I must accidentally hit the C key too or something and end up making copies. I've used the checkbox feature in Vista and always found it very convenient. You might like it also!

  8. Just to follow up, the installer I downloaded for Internet Antivirus Pro was a morphed version from the other five samples I have.

You can see in the pic below they are the same size but packed at a different size.

    Edit:

    Changed the url again to:

and picked up another installer for Internet Antivirus Pro which is different again.

Ya gotta pity those poor Antimalware good guys trying to keep up with these rogues, huh.

I feel even more sorry for people who are trying to find utilities to protect or keep their systems running and get duped by this garbage. Fortunately, most of us here have our defenses and utilities set up.

Despite a hardware firewall, OA Free, NOD32, ThreatFire, Windows Defender, Sandboxie, some on demand scanners, and AyRecovery, I've come to the conclusion that one of the great defenses and first line of defense (besides common sense) is WOT or similar, and to never, never, ever open anything that isn't green in search results.

  9. Are GC and SP3 compatible. The download site lists SP2 plus I searched Google, MSN and Yahoo with this question and the threads are at best vague. I suppose there is a chrome forum, I'll try that. I didn't notice any FAQ, surely it might be there.

  10.

If you're looking for somewhere to store images, and even share them, then I recommend SkyDrive by Windows Live. 5GB capacity and I recall it to be a 50MB maximum upload per slot (i.e. a file that exceeds 50MB cannot be uploaded). As previously mentioned: you can share ('Public') your uploads or keep them private, I also believe you can choose friends (but not 'Public') to view as well.

Well i did just end up using picasa and youtube, however, I'm liking this skydrive! Thank You!

  11. So recently on my notebook, after downloading the new CCl while sandboxed, I couldn't recover the file to the desktop which is the norm. I eventually just ran the file. I posted a shot of the "You need permission to perform this action" text box on the Sandboxie forum, thinking something had changed in Sandboxie and tzuk asked "what happens if I try to make a new folder?" Well I got the same message. So I started searching and this message is a common problem for many file and folder functions, e.g. opening, deleting, etc. Even though I have administrator privileges and have UAC (apparently it has nothing to do with it) disabled. I ran a cmd prompt that allows me to log on strictly as adm but that competely messes up the desktop with all kinds of icons of programs I only occasionally use and missing all my normal icons. I've tried all kinds of fixes to no avail. I really had never gotten into the "I hate Vista" frame of mind but I'm there now!
