I have 20 processes on one machine and 21 on another. I went through all my running processes and services. Googled each one and found out was safe to disable. When I bought the Dell lap top their were over 50 processes running in Task Manager. I have lost 0 functions since I killed off the junk. Absolutely insane the amount of crap they have starting with the machines.
Maybe I'll try that sometime..
Here's the funny thing.... I like Firefox a lot, but never had a problem with memory, till about 5 minutes ago.
Normal
OMG Bloated!!!
I figured it out that since the web page was so long that it did this. My memory and CPU maxed out!!
This computer is Windows 2000 Pro
Now on my Dell (Windows XP Home) I did something similar when I watched a movie trailer in HD - once it was fully loaded, my page file usage was through the roof.
My question now is.... why in Win 200 does it say Mem usage vs. Page file usage (Win XP) under Task Manager???

Pretty bad ass if you ask me, being able to identify unknown problems...

Just a tip with taskmanager. If you place the mouse pointer on "Mem Usage" and click it will toggle the highest to lowest or vice versa.
MY GOD?! How do you have like nothing running?!?! I want that on my Dell...then again, Norton does have like 5 processes running at once... that could be a start...

Number 3 was funny...number 4 sounded fake. Why? Because I have a sharpening/grind stone in my garage, and it sounds like that when you sharpen something like a lawn mower blade.

Sorry...I really hate spiders....specially big hairy ones.

What are your specs, hardware wise. It could be something else, not necessarily software. But, let someone with experience in reading HJT logs answer you before I start giving my 2 cents.

That would be ironically funny. Well.... I hope spammers realize that spam is ignored now and that they should just give up. Too bad that will never happen...

If it's crashed on me...it did once..... ever....
However, my IE 7 will randomly just close...I'll click a link after being on it for like 10 minutes, and then out of no where, it will just close, without any sort of warning.

IDK anyone that has one. Kids in my school have basically iPods and nothing else, including me.
My brother has a 2 GB San Disk Sansa, which is small, but has great battery life.
(Get the Halo 3 Zune !!1)

OMG!?!!? Lol your right.
Dell I believe is now shipping a 32 GB solid state drive. It is $500 or so dollars, but, with no moving parts, and less battery usage, the trade offs are seen to be worth it.

What is the point of holding on to version 1.5.0.x???
I never figured that one out? Can you inform me?

Sweetness...you haven't released screen shots yet have you???

If that drive had 137 GB not recognized, it means they don't have SP1 (might be SP2?) not installed on XP.

Haha..I figured what he was trying to get at. I hope this is for a laptop, not a desktop....

I'm sitting here going...geez.... I only use the built in thing in WinXP Home and WinRAR. I never really use compression software.

You playing a joke??? That link is to post a new topic on this forum.
Maybe you copy and pasted wrong...

Right now intel's core 2 duo chips are the best hands down. They are supposed to be releasing a new line soon that is even better.(more powerful, better battery life) I can't remember the name though.
PENRYN -- FYI...lol
That is a really nice laptop actually.I'll probably stick with the Dell, but if I decide to reconsider, I know where to look.
Also, for gaming.. it is clearly noted that AMD handles 3D applications better than Intel. The only downside I could find about AMD was shorter battery life, and it generates more heat.
Not sure where you found that fact... Intel = Best thing out there. Pair that with a good graphics chip and your good to go. Core 2 Duo's totally pwn AMD's, so don't even think about buying that AMD!

Is this what he is looking for? You can run it from a USB drive, but only if the main PC doesn't have it installed already.

I looked..IDK..it might have already updated...
IDK who else has an ATI card...but do not download the hardware update from Microsoft...I did a few weeks ago...restarted my PC...and my drivers were f@$%ed...it was in like, 4 bit mode lol. I got online and re-downloaded them from ATI..and it was fine. So word to the wise...trust the real drivers...lol

What has happened to parenting skills these days?
I don't think games consoles are something kids should have at just three years old. And a two week ban?!?! He'll have forgotten about it in three. I'd do the same to his Wii as he did to the TV, then he'd learn a lesson he wouldn't forget!
Ya..I wouldn't buy a game system for a kid till at least 6 years old. I'd break the Wii too, but the parents probably bought it, and don't want to waste the money by breaking it.

TigerDirect and Newegg.
People seem to like it - and with a price $50 over estimated value, it seems good if you need that much space.

Cats are evil.
Agreed.... none of you met my cousins' kitten...it clawed at EVERYTHING...it was so bad. I think it scratched at the eye of one of my cousins, just missing the actual pupil...(like it got the skin around it.) Like wise, my uncle and aunt got rid of it and a got a dog, who just happens to be hyperactive... . However it hasn't hurt anyone yet.
