My computer says its connected to the internet but no internet access?

The problem is you are jumping around and doing things on your own without reporting back to what we tell you do do. Let me take a wild guess to what your problem EXACTLY is. Your encryption keys do not match or you have not set them up properly between your wireless router and your laptop. If you have set them up properly, then your next post sould only be my one request from you: What type of Security are you using on your router/laptop and what is the key? -

You are relating 2 other things to your logon issue. If you reset the modem back to factory default, you should be able to login with the default settings. What redhawk suggested may or may not work, it all depends on the router. Do you have a manual? What does it say to use for default user/pass? -

Is this the address you used? 192.168.1.254 Scratch that...you get to the login page so it's the correct address. If you reset and the router sets to default, you will have to also reboot the system to get the proper IP address. It may or maynot be the same. The address you are wanting to connect to is the Gateway address. -

The problem could have been resolved by now if you stick to us and follow our steps. Your router is capable of handing out IP Addresses, but when you connect wirelessly you cannot get the proper address. You need to make sure the wireless portion is set up properly with WPA/WPA2 PSK encryption, I recommend WPA2, and the peroper key is entered. Remember this key as you will need to setup this same key on your laptop in order to connect and get an IP Address. If you get a message of Limited or No Connectivity, chances are you do not have the proper key matching in both the router and laptop. -

This must not be a serious problem since he is not responding and has had the problem since last month. -

If you want to resolve this, you need to reply to what we are asking and try not to jump the gun. This should have been resolved already. You CANNOT have the same IP address as your Gateway. Look at Redhawks reply....and give us a screenshot so we can see or copy all the TXT and paste them into a reply. -

It sounds like he is not getting an IP Address...but we need him to get back to us. -

You are asking questions without showing us what we need to know. Post a screenshot, but make sure you can get to the internet first. We need to know what the IP Address and the Gateway Address are. -

While waiting for someone who has your router, plug the pc into the router and type IPCONFIG at the CMD prompt and tell us your IP Address and Gateway address. -
I think it was a Hit and Run.

Tr3bg0D replied to kel23's topic in The Lounge
I'm sure you can get this resolved faster if you monitor this thread more closely. Now that we have established that your router works, we know you do not have wireless configured properly and the reason you could not get an IP address when trying to connect wirelessly is because you have an incorrect or no key assigned. Do as hazelnut says...we need to know what type of router you have. -

......as redhawk says, we need to make sure you are ok from the router before we work on wireless. If you do not get an IP address, report back before doing this step: Open the following link into your web browser http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.1.254 do you get a login prompt?? With no IP address, you will not be able to perform that step. If you do get an IP Address, then I can guess where your problem is. But we need you to report back first. -

Plug your computer directly into the router with a cable. Plug it into one of the Ethernet ports and not the WAN port and reboot. Do you have an IP address? -
Why not use the portable version and use WinRar to create your own silent installer?

Why not run the portable CCleaner and see if you get the same problem. -

I noticed the same once I began using winapp2.ini. It seems to be reading the file.

It was previously discussed here >>> http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=32395 Just overwrite your files with the portable version.
