Seems to be a few things going on. Found a couple of things you might like to look at and think about.
You don't have a wireless xbox adapter attached do you?
A post here
http://mymce.wordpress.com/2007/01/06/ehsh...services-error/
You're a rock star Hazel, I knew that I could count on your searching skills. It worked like a charm. As for a wireless xbox adapter...I have no idea. He has an xbox so it's possible.
thanks!

There's also:
- XP Codec Pack (uses Media Player Classic but it doesn't play everything)
- MPUI with MPlayer (plays most formats)
- MPlayer Portable (plays most formats)
- VLC Media Player Portable (plays most formats)
Look on this site for tons of software.
Do note portable means just that, it won't leave tons of stuff behind when or if it's deleted so try out portable versions of applications first if they have a portable version to know if it will be liked or not.
Hey, thanks Andavari I'll check it out. Hope all going well for you.

Sorry krit, I don't have windows media centre so I cannot help you there.
Perhaps another member will know.
No worries Hazel, and thank you! I am actually going to use the software that you suggested on of my pc's. I also remembered a long time ago you suggested that I install the k-lite codecs for something so I did it again on the Toshiba and voila! the DVD player is working, however, it is generating an ehshell.exe error and crashing so I am going to look into that now. If you have time could you use your internet surfing skills to help look into it too?
I am beginning to wonder if Windows Firewall is blocking something.
Here is a list of everything that I could find in eventviewer that might be related:
> ehshell.exe - common language debugging services (this is the crash screen in WMP)
> Media Center Extender Service - Error Code: 0x80004005 - Event ID: 36864
> Event ID: 7024
> The SMI helper driver service failed to start.
> In addition, when WMP11 crashes the first error states that Messenger could not be started (even though it is started)
System Specs:
Toshiba Qosimo G35-AV650
Windows XP Media Center Edition SP3
WMP11
K-Lite Codecs Full
Thanks for any suggestions. Should I start a new thread?

Media Player Classic is what I use.
Some info about it here, oh and it's free
http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_so...yer_classic.cfm
Others may have some other ideas for you too.
Thanks Hazel! Will that interfere with Windows Media Center at all? or do I need to disable Media Center? or how can I play dvd's on media center? LOL Sorry for so many questions.

Hey everyone,
Hope you are all having a nice holiday season so far.
I'm looking for advice on how to play DVD's and HD DVD's. The Toshiba that I have been working on came bundled with Intervideo WinDVD w/HD and I had to remove the bundled programs. Is there anything that I can replace the bundled software with so that the computer owner can still watch movies? WMP asks for a decoder, but links to decoders that cost $. Will I need to pay, or are there free options? Essentially I want to be able to pop in a DVD and start playing the movie. Not sure how to make that happen.
Thanks, and have a nice day!

one more thing, inhaling smoke into one's lungs isn't the issue with marijuana...it's the loss of oxygen to the brain
-
I could see it being first decriminalized and possibly legalized.
That is a very important distinction that most people don't think about, but I didn't want to bring it up since I have a hard time keeping that topic brief. Criminalizing something that isn't harmful to the society does harm the society in my opinion. I think that decriminalizing marijuana would be a great step for our society, but legalizing it doesn't seem necessary. Plus, if the government did legalize it they wouldn't be able to regulate it so it would seem pointless.
I see people that have graduated to harsher drugs from marijuana and seen others that have never tried anything harsher. I think there are social (legal as well as personal) issues that can result from it's usage but not for everyone. It just can't be healthy though to inhale smoke, regardless of the amount or the substance, into one's lungs.I agree social aspects play a huge role with any drug...even eating habits! Great Britain and the US have the highest rates of alcohol related criminal offenses, but then there are countries like France that have very low rates. It's a good example of how drug related behavior and society go hand and hand. The only difference in the above mentioned countries are the societies...the alcohol is the same.

Hiya Krit, haven't seen ya in awhile!
Hey! I got your messege, it came to my cell phone and I haven't logged onto WLM to add you back yet. Don't think I'm blowin' you off.
How are you?

Here are my thoughts regardless if anyone cares. This is an interesting topic.
For starters, 1984, you are correct. Studies of marjiuana pale in comparison to studies done on tobacco use, and I think that is a very important thing to remember. I look at it this way...if one study only studies 10 people and another 100 the results look a lot different if negative effects are shown on 5 people in each. Point being, if the population size is not adequately the same then the results of each study (marijuana use vs. tobacco use) are not comparable. Another thing to remember is that the only thing that marijuana and tobacco have in common is that the route of administration is smoking it. The 2 are not even kind of in the same class of drugs. Yet, do you know which drug out of all of the drugs on the planet has the highest number of loyalty users? Tobacco - THE LEGAL DRUG That does in fact cause lung cancer and is responsible for a large number of deaths a year.
In regards to lung cancer it is very unlikely that a person will develop lung cancer from ONLY smoking pot. Reason being, is that people who smoke marijuana are not inhaling a lot. Whereas tobacco smokers typically smoke 20-40 cigarettes per day. A typical heavy marijuana smoker doesn't smoke more than 4 marijuana cigarettes per day.
As for the first link on PopularTechnology.net, it makes me laugh. They compared drug seeking behavior of animals between marijuana and cocaine. What they fail to mention is how many times the animals self-administered in each study. An animal will self-administer cocaine 3,000 times a day until they die while showing no interest in food, water, or self hygeine. In the marijuana studies, the animals never exceeded 200 times a day while still eating, drinking water, and attending to self-hygeine. I'm sorry, but that seems like a profound difference to me and apparently to the FDA as well being that cocaine is a schedule I drug.
Overall, the dangers of marijuana are very minimal, and when compared to tobacco and alcohol is the lesser of danger. Regardless of it's danger level it will always be illegal so proving it's harmlessness or harmfullness is only for conversation purposes.
The FDA has never approved a drug that is smoked, and it has never approved a drug that contains more than 2 chemicals. Marijuana has 4000 chemicals and is smoked. But it's interesting to talk about.

Their illegal for a reason. :/
What reason might that be?

What kind of router is it, and what have you done to fix it? Is Windows used to configure the wireless connection, or software? If you connected using an ethernet cable it seems that the router itself is working fine, and communicating with the modem.
On your father's computer...go to:
start > run > type cmd > press enter
at the command prompt type ipconfig /all (note the space after ipconfig)
what does it say?

Maybe your Recent Documents folder settings got changed somehow.
Check this out:
To Display the My Recent Documents Folder
To display the My Recent Documents folder on the Start menu:
1. Right-click Start, and then click Properties. Or, if the Start menu is already displayed, right-click an empty area of the Start menu, and then click Properties.
2. Click Customize.
3. Click the Advanced tab.
4. Under Recent documents, click to select the List my most recently opened documents check box, click OK, and then click OK. The next time you click Start, the My Recent Documents command is displayed on the Start menu.
If you are still stuck I'd suggest a system file check. Let me know if you need instructions.
-
Oh, and one more thing. I believe that I gave you instructions to run chkdsk from the command prompt and sometimes there are actual disk errors that can happen when running the command 'chkdsk'.
Try going into 'my computer from the taskbar menu, right click 'my computer', click 'properties', click 'tools', click 'error checking', click the two check boxes, when you close with 'OK' you will get an error msg stating 'you do not have exclusive access to local disc C, would you like to schedule a check disk next time you reboot' select yes, reboot.

downloaded and ran CCleaner last night. I have had 3 blue screen of death errors since. I tried sytem restore to take me back to yesterday morning, but I am still having the problem.
The error message I get reads
kernel_stack_inpage_error
and the error codes at the bottom are
0xc00000077, oxc000000e, oxc000000e, ox00000000, ox08f86000
beginning dump of stack memory
Hello, and welcome to the forum.
Member Krit86lr suggested running a chkdsk. Thanks for welcoming me and thanks for the suggestion. I lookup up a MSFT page on these errors and it also said to do that. But when I try to run Chksks, McAfee scan, or Spybot, the PC freezes and gives me the blue screen of death again before the scan completes.
Any help would be appreciated. I would like to avoid wiping the hard drive and having someone reload everything if possible
Thanks,
Bob
Are you sure that chkdsk is giving you a blue screen of death? The chkdsk screen looks the same as the blue screen of death, and should run for about an hour.
To be sure that your chkdsk is funtioning properly download and install this. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en
Reboot, then run chkdsk again, which also requires a reboot.
Good luck.

Did you uninstall the previous version before installing V2.06?
That shouldn't matter. http://www.CCleaner.com/help/faq/installin...-when-upgrading
"Do I need to uninstall the old version of CCleaner when upgrading? No, you can install newer versions over the top of older versions, without having to uninstall. If you do uninstall an old version first, you will lose your existing settings."

I guess Ebay doesn't care if someone is illegally selling PIRIFORM or YAHOO software on their website.
I don't think that is true. Ebay has a list of rules and regulations, and this guy is breaking Ebay's listing rules.
Replica, Counterfeit Items and Unauthorized Copies
Counterfeits, unauthorized replicas, unauthorized items (such as counterfeit watches, handbags, or other accessories) or unauthorized copies (such as copies of software programs, video games, music albums, movies, television programs, or photographs) are not permitted on eBay. Unauthorized copies include (but are not limited to) copies that are pirated, duplicated, backed-up or bootlegged. It is illegal to sell unauthorized copies of media.
Guideline: If the product you are selling bears the name or logo of a company, but it wasn't made or endorsed by that company, don't list it on eBay.
Violations of this policy may result in a range of actions, including:
Listing cancellation
Limits on account privileges
Account suspension
Forfeit of eBay fees on cancelled listings
Loss of PowerSeller status
Report counterfeit or replica items.
http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/replica-counterfeit.html
-
Not sure who reports them but at the bottom of the offering they have a link to Report This Item.
I clicked that, and followed the steps providing information then it just said to contact ebay via email, or live chat. Live chat is down right now.
I find the following very interesting also.THANK YOU
?Copyright 2005-2008 Piriform Ltd. All rights reserved
NOTE - SELLING THIS IS NOT BREAKING ANY COPYRIGHT LAWS IT OBEYS ALL OF EBAY'S LISTING POLICIES AND ANY OTHER COMPANY RULES.
ANY OTHER QUERIES WILL BE DEALT WITH UPON REQUEST. THANKS
THANK YOU

It sure ticks me off !!!
davey
It ticks me off too! And the selling of it breaks at least 2 of ebays rules. A$$

Who reports these to Ebay?

CCleaner does it's thing in seconds for me. Most times less than a second. How long does CCleaner take to clean your system that you need an "Estimated Time Left"?
That is a ridiculous response. If you read other threads you would know that it can take hours. Regardless...your attitude about this is a bit distasteful.
-
You mean to tell me you actually sit there and watch the bar? Why? Just let it run and carry on.
You can't let it run and carry on. Browser windows and such need to be closed.
Note: The estimated time left is only reasonable if you use the analyze function first. If you press "Run CCleaner" and want an estimated time left it would have to analyze the system first which takes longer. Therefore, if one chooses to use the analyze function before running CCleaner it would be reasonable to add an "estimate time remaining" feature for that function.
-
Hello, and welcome.
What version of CCleaner are you using? What programs were removed? And what OS are you using?
Also, CCleaner tasks did you run when this happened?
thanks

I'm confused by what your asking. Are you trying to find the keys to your own software that you've installed but lost the key too or are you actually trying to crack/steal software. If its the latter than this topic will be deleted. If you just want the keys off your own PAID FOR software than either what humpty posted or this should work:
That program does work pretty well. But if I remember correctly it will confuses y's and v's sometimes.
-
why are you asking us this? it's illegal to do such an action. though, i saw a recent program that did this perfectly.
Why would it be illegal to retreive the product keys to your software?
-
Hello, and welcome to the forum.
Try running a chkdsk.
> click Start
> click Run
> type cmd
> press OK
> type the following: chkdsk /r (note the space between chkdsk and the /)
> press Enter
> type Y
> press enter
> reboot your computer
Hope that helps.
