  1. ...you mean you can edit the damn thing? SWEET!!!

edit:btw, is it possible to point it to an icon instead of a .dll file?

edit2: just tried that and it WORKS. guess i have to say goodbye to editing the shell32.dll file. but the one thing that it doesn't let me do is edit the regular folder File .

  2. Have you tried right clicking on the current icon, then clicking on Properties, then the Customize tab, and then Change Icon? Then you can choose from a selection of MS icons.

If you had a custom icon then that probably won't work although you can navigate to a different folder with more icons if you have one from there.

that's not possible. it's possible for a regular folder, but not My Music/Documents/Pictures/Videos and a couple of others.

Tarun: just tried that(MyDocs was registered anyways) and it didn't work. hmm actually the icon for my music did return. but the one on the start menu didn't. maybe a restart would fix it.

  3. does anyone know any way to get it back? here's a screenshot to see what i mean.

i haven't tried hacking the shell32.dll file yet(need a good icon package to find) so i dunno what could be the cause.

  4. hmmm. i think that you might wanna try out the latest version. i'm currently using it and i haven't had to agree to any license agreement(except for Process Explorer).

also, if it still appears, then you can write a registry entry which says that you've accepted the EULA(if any is present). the reisgtry entry is located at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sysinternals\C\EulaAccepted". the EulaAccepted key is a DWORD which is set to 1.

edit: just deleted the registry entry and it asked me for a license agreement. it rewrote the registry entry and now i can use it just fine.

  5. Contig is alright and all but I've completely abandoned it after it was last updated because it kept showing some license agreement which I had agreed to many times, it became too annoying to keep using.

you sure it was Contig and not Process Explorer? because Contig is just a console application while Process Explorer is another story.

  6. <rant>your website is gay. it made Opera freeze for 10 seconds realmad.gif</rant>

from the looks of things, geocities might be sufficient enough for you. i don't know how much storage or bandwidth you might use up monthly so i can only guess that a low amount will be used monthly. but then again i can't be sure. if you need paid hosting, you might wanna search around. the only paid host that i've heard of is ForgeHosting. but their DNS servers suck(not sure if that's still the case).

  7. technically, you COULD do it with a dynamic IP. but there is almost no point in doing it. you would have to change the IP to which the domain points to every day or every week. it's really a hastle. i know that no-ip has a little tool which automatically changes the IP that the domain points to. but since you want to buy a domain, then that's out of the question.

if you really want to host a website without spending any money on anything, then get geocities or freewebs or some other free webhosting crap. i believe that a lot of them will let your use your own domain with their hosting.

as for you doing this by yourself, why? what would be the point of you having a website? will anyone visit it? do you know how to make a good website? if anyone wants to make a website, then they need a good reason to make one. if someone wanted one just because they wanted to be cool(not saying that's what you're doing), then in the end, that person ends up wasting lots of time.

  8. meh. i got rid of OpenOffice yesterday because i found out that AbiWord can open OpenDocument files. but when i tried opening one of more, i found out that it can't load the images from it. so i had to use writely to convert it to .doc so that both Office 12 and AbiWord could load them.
