  1. I did a search for the name of the cookies and it turned out (at least in this case), they were all living in:

    C:\Documents and Settings\[user Name]\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash Player\macromedia.com\support\flashplayer\sys

This folder would need to be added for each user on the computer, but that computer only had the one.

So I don't think CC is getting rid of all the Flash cookies after all? So unless you have set your storage space on the Flash control panel to zero, you should find there are Flash cookies still on your computer as well.

I did mention this already, perhaps wasn't clear enough:

(though some users may wish to add the settings.sol file also if they don't mind losing their flash settings)

This file is deliberately excluded and has been for a long tome due to users complaining of their Flash settings being removed. Assuming you aren't bothered about that just add

    "C:\Documents and Settings\USER\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash Player\macromedia.com\support\flashplayer\sys\settings.sol"

as an inclusion. This has been discussed many times before and a search of the forum for Flash cookies or "settings.sol" would have found the same information.

  2. Great find Hazel, you're a star. I never considered it being a cookie issue as I use CookieSafe and the pics still didn't load when allowing all cookies but that link was right on the money. Had to go into FF options, allow third party cookies (something I wouldn't normally like but know CookieSafe will block them anyway) and allow the livefilestore.com cookie in CSLite.

Minor irritation solved, curiosity satisfied, thanks Hazel. (Strange that I've got third party cookies blocked in IE and Iron too but only FF had a problem, but that is a curiosity I can live with :D )

  3. FF doesn't support activex, right ? thats my guess or you can try IE Tab add-onto view it.

or you can go to http://kb.mozillazine.org/Images_or_animations_do_not_load

    hope helps

It's not an active-x issue, it's just a web image, no active-x involved (besides Iron doesn't support active-x either and the pics load in that). Using IE Tab doesn't fix the problem (or help me understand what is causing it), just bypasses it. And just for thoroughness I went through the Mozilla KB article and nothing there worked.

  4. This is not a major problem as I don't go there often but it's bugging me that I can't suss out what's causing it. If I go to any of my friends photo albums on their Windows Live profiles and try to view their pics with Firefox (v3.6) the photo's just don't show, whereas they do show in IE and Iron without a problem. I suspected an addon but disabled the obvious ones, still no go, so tried FF safe mode to disable them all and still no pics load.

Anyone else have this issue viewing users photo albums with Firefox and/or have a suggestion what the hell is causing it???

  5. One wonders, even with the release of Windows 7 and new & updated applications, how many of you out there are still using the last version of CC which showed the full detail of what was cleaned, instead of the default summary we've been using ever since...

Yup, I'm still using V2.21 for everyday use, I like to be able to see exactly what I'm cleaning and anything that slows down my use of a program is a backward step IMO. I do download the portable version when a new version is released to see if anything extra is cleaned.

  6. If possible, it would be nice if this were simply another check box item on the list of items to clean with CCleaner.

I agree, I would like a tick box in the main cleaner to clean all but most recent restore point too (having said that I still use Windows own tool for clearing restore points as CCleaner doesn't clean up as much restore point data for some reason)

  7. Sorry if this has been discussed previously but I could not find in the Search. Am I right in believing that "MS System Restore" will not work after I have run CC cleaner and repaired any registry errors? OS Win XP Pro SP3.0.

There's no reason system restore should stop working after running CCleaner, what makes you think that?

  8. I was using the most recent version of CC last year, when I came across an article on manually deleting flash cookies. I ran CC and checked, there were still flash cookies on my computer, some had been there for months from what I could tell. So unless there was something wrong with my installion, are you sure yours is deleting ALL your flash cookies?

    Yes ;)

  9. CCleaner already deletes flash cookies (though some users may wish to add the settings.sol file also if they don't mind losing their flash settings).

I don't know if it handles Silverlight cookies, I suspect it doesn't but could be wrong (I've never installed, or needed to install, Silverlight so couldn't check)

  10. I just downloaded my first update in awhile, and I saw this new option about DNS Cache. I checked it and ran C Cleaner, but the next time I booted up my computer, it stalled and didn't want to load. I had to force off the computer with the button and now it's ok. It's starting normally again. Was it this DNS Cache option that could have done something that made booting up problematic? I noticed it wasn't checked off automatically. Maybe it's more for pro's and I shouldn't have messed with it. Thanks.

In short, no, that couldn't have caused it. It's unticked simply because it doesn't free up any space and simply doesn't need to be run in most circumstances. If it's restarted fine since it sounds like a coincidence. Have you run CCleaner since without a problem? (just to rule out the possibility it was the new version that caused a prob, regardless of the DNS cache option)

  11. On what "CD" did you find Ccleaner?

Um, he didn't, he reinstalled the Solitaire game from CD.

Did you run the reg cleaner and if so can you restore the backup created? Tried system restore to a point before you ran CCleaner?

  12. I didn't get on with Stylish, can't remember why, but been using Greasemonkey for a few months now. These are the scripts I'm currently using (all linked ;) ):

Download Youtube Videos: Downloads Youtube videos in a variety of formats straight from youtube's servers. Formats are: FLV, MP4, and 3GP in low and high quality for FLV and 3GP, also now 720p for videos that support it.

Google Images direct links: Makes images link directly to the original in Google Images search. The source website link is moved to the green URL below the image.

Google Un-safe Search: Turn safe search off permanently without being logged into Google

livejasmin blocker: Block livejasmin.com pop-under (which is extremely difficult to block by normal methods)

Result Numbers: Adds a number in turn to web search results of Google.

Userscripts Updater: Easy way to check for scripts updates. Automatic checking.

  13. To see if other people who use the applications I listed would share their entries.

This is what THIS stickied topic is for.

And have you simply posted a list of all your programs? Some of those listed don't create anything that can be cleaned and some are already in CCleaner by default.
