  1. Question: Should I install Recuva in/for each user account.

No; you can't. Just copy the program shortcut to the All Users menu :)

(Not sure how it behaves under non-admin accounts though ... I'm presuming it behaves normally)

  2. You are suggesting that the CCleaner module for uninstalling programs should have the ability to be sorted by when the program was installed. I agree on this one but I believe that this has already been implemented..

    Check the screenshot.

I'm running the same CCleaner version on XP Home and I don't get the same columns - just Name, Publisher and Version.

  3. I've had that service disabled since I got Macrium, and I've made quite a few Image backups with it disabled, and I've Restored Images 4 times now with it disabled.

You can also mount and unmount the Image as a drive with it disabled.

The point of it escapes me, as in my use of Macrium Reflect Free, it's always been surplus to requirements.

Hmmm that's interesting  ... have to look into that one :)

  4. Still if it doesn't show up you can start, and stop it using this via Start->Run, Batch Files, or shortcuts:

If it wasn't showing in the Services list I'd be very surprised if you could start or stop it; it's absence would suggest it's not registered.

I didn't know though, that the net service commands respond to service display names :). I've always used the service name before; e.g net stop ReflectService.

  5. Perhaps someone could suggest a program to create a log of running processes for the OP to use,

Sysinternals' Process Explorer will generate a process list in a text file ... http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinte...s/bb896653.aspx (just watch where you're saving it ... default seems to be the PE exe directory)

I'd recommend Sysinternals' AutoRuns over StartupLite because it's much easier to see what you've got, but it's not really a tool for the inexperienced ... http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinte...s/bb963902.aspx.

The advantage of StartupLite is that it will suggest unnecessary processes for you. Unfortunately once you disable them it doesn't seem to give you the opportunity to re-enable them later, unlike most start-up utilities. I'd be inclined to use StartupLite to identify processes and something else (e.g. Autoruns [advanced] or Mike Lin's StartUp [simple]) to disable them.

  6. As far as I am aware I am not having any problems deleting these entries using the nirsoft software linked above. I have been doing this since I found it with no problems so far as I can tell.

CCman - when you say 'deleting' entries with USB Dev View what do you mean? There is no delete option - are you uninstalling? If so, then as per my earlier post it's not just as simple as removing the registry entry. That's where I was going with it's too complicated/indiscriminate to do as a normal CCleaner option.

  7. ... For reference here are the Excel registry keys you can add to the exclude list in CC ...

Doh! Good point Disk4mat - clean forgot about reg excludes.

  8. I can do that, but I hate to. Then it won't clean out what it needs to from this area I presume.

That's your choice - there isn't a half-way house! You use the word 'need' - there's nothing that needs to be cleaned ... i.e. nothing that will hurt your computer if you leave it there.

Unfortunately I can't tell you explicitly what other items are not cleared when you uncheck this, in order to assist your choice; maybe another forum member can.

Although to be honest I can't for the life of me think what other junk Excel could leave behind to clear up ... recent docs might be the only thing!

  9. As an administrator it is NOT possible for me to access her desktop, it is part of her profile and Windows will not let me in.

Yes it is - it is simply the way that your file sharing is configured that precludes your access (i.e. the default for XP Home).

I'm not suggesting that you should change it - I'm just pointing this out for the sake of other people reading this thread.
