  1. The reason why CCleaner does not clean on shut down is that a lot of installs need a boot in order to finish. And deleting the files before they get installed is not a good idea. But there's another way. Start CCleaner. When the animated icon shows in Tray right click on it. Select the option Shot down after Clean. And CCleaner will turn off the PC when the cleaning is done. No need to babysit the process. And no batch file needed...
  2. Fly means (air) plaine and v?pen means weapon. Nowadays they call them selves defence (force). You know political correctness and social democracy and all that jazz. The word flyv?pnet lives, though, among ordinary people.
  3. But I was incorrect and I have corrected it. Norway and Sweden are two sides of the same hills so I'll gladly believe that you found a Norwegian backpack in Sweden. Or vice versa. They walk and drive to and from all the time. No passport needed. They have a deal on that.
  4. Hint: Flyv?pnet is Norwegian for air force. Major edit and correction: Flyv?pnet was the name the Norwegian Air forces used during WW2, Google reveals.
  5. No, a defrag would not have made any difference. What you did via CCleaner should be good enough. Don't worry. But the next time ask first. Better safe than sorry.
  6. Thanks for posting that solution, gatow. Also: The program Winsock Repair from Rizone Technologies are sometimes used to repair issues similar to this. Actually it's a bit unlikely that this could have been caused by CCleaner.
  7. I think that would make you and your wife safe. Well done. Besides: The tech staff at your job wont have the time for studying your files. They don't open the folders. The next time you should ask before sending the PC out of the house. For obvious reasons.
  8. In such cases it's often seen that more things are the matter. Try to visit the free online scanner in my signature. It will defrag, clean, remove malware and more. Did you run CCleaner before starting Defraggler? How often do you run chkdsk and scannow?
  9. Generally: files that are in use cannot be deleted. If you had open programs when running CCleaner the temp files that they were using wont get deleted. Files less that 24 hours old also wont get deleted unless you select that option in CCleaners advanced settings.

Thank you for finding the homepages, peck1234. I must say I strongly agree with Hazel. We need the source of origin. Besides there could easily be legal problem. I don't know who uploaded HD Tune's product to a file host site and started to give other peoples products away but it's not the way things are done. Freeware or not. Only HD Tune can give it away. They own the freeware. Perhaps they permitted it. But I doubt it...
  11. I'm afraid we can't really do much. It's a bug and CCleaner's developers are looking into it. It will undoubtedly be corrected in an update very soon. CCleaner's staff wrote above that they are dealing with it already.

I'd like to know about the other one too. Some AVs flag them as malware althought a few things indicates it's a false positive. The other one is here: http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?s=&amp...st&p=149995

That wasn't really what I asked. Where do they come from? Who made them? Do they have a homepage?

I don't know any of the tools you're refering to, peck1234. Where do they come from?

  24. Objection! I dislike cookies. Strongly. Less than 1 percent of all cookies are worth keeping. In my humble opinion.
  25. I'm sure CCleaner does not discriminate people on sexual orientation or surf habits. Let's do the same on the user side, shall we? Stay cool, please.
