  1. Nope. Didn't know about this. Thanks for the info! Actually, I plan to learn a little more about whether I really need Adobe at all. As far as I know, I only use it to read pdf's, so I'm considering replacing it with Foxit. Thanks for the tip. Regarding CC versions, in most cases my preference is to wait awhile before downloading new versions of software.
  2. Keith, your above ^^^ post is a follow-up to an earlier one you made in this thread telling me to look in Add/Remove Programs and uninstall Adobe 6.0. But, if you read my first post carefully, you'll see that I clearly state "in Windows Add/Remove Programs, [my] Adobe Reader appears only once as version 7.0.9. It also appears only once (also as version 7.0.9) in CCleaner's Uninstall listing." It appears only once because prior to my installing 7.0, I used Add/Remove Programs to remove 6.0. But apparently that process left some 6.0 registry keys behind. So, back to my question regarding the 6.0 subkeys that I saw in the registry when following YoKenny's advice...Should I leave well-enough alone and keep these other subkeys in the Registry or should I delete them as well?
  3. Thanks YoKenny. That did the trick insofar as removing Adobe Acrobat Reader 6.0 from the CCleaner window. A follow-up question that probably belongs in the Software forum, but is directly related to this thread: I saw a bunch of other Adobe Acrobat Reader 6.0 subkeys in the Registry when I was removing the one you mention above. Should I leave well-enough alone and keep these other subkeys in the Registry or should I delete them as well? Opinions welcomed.
  4. As shown in the attached bmp image, Adobe Acrobat Reader is listed 2 times in this CCleaner window. That would seem to suggest I have two versions of the reader on my system. But, in Windows Add/Remove Programs, Adobe Reader appears only once as version 7.0.9. It also appears only once (also as version 7.0.9) in CCleaner's Uninstall listing. What does the double listing (6.0 and 7.0) mean and what should I do about it? ccleanerimage.bmp
  5. As noted on this Sandboxie thread http://sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?p=31262#31262, there's a problem using CCleaner's command line with Sandboxie to execute secure deletions. I tested this out last night and, as mentioned by Guest10's post (4th one from the top), the files in the applicable sandbox are deleted but the (renamed) sandbox folder is left behind. If I recall correctly, that renamed, left-behind sandbox folder looked something like this in Windows Explorer: __Delete_(sandbox name). I know you can configure Sandboxie for automatic, secure deletions using SDelete and Eraser. I'd prefer not to have to install either of those programs since I already use CCleaner. Suggestions?
  6. For all you Sandboxie lovers http://sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=4657
  7. Downloaded and installed 2.15.815 this evening. No problemos that I can see. One glitch during the process that was my fault. I use Sandboxie and I forgot that I have my desktop set up as a forced folder. So when I ran the CCleaner installer from my desktop, CCleaner got installed in one of my sandboxes. Again, I had forgotten about the forced folder setting and was scratching my head for a few minutes trying to figure out why CCleaner wasn't appearing on my actual (unsandboxed) drive. The light bulb finally went on and all is well. (I gotta remember to disable Sandboxie's forced folders when installing from my desktop.) Thanks again for the input!
  8. Thanks Andavari. I'll probably do the install this weekend, if not before. Hope my pc and 2.15.815 play as nicely together as 2.03.532. CCleaner has been a great product.
  9. This almost sounds too simple Adavari. But, then again, that's how I like things. BTW...what's TypeLib?
  10. I'm thinking of starting out the new year by downloading and installing the newest version of CCleaner: 2.15.815. Currently, I'm running version 2.03.532. Why have I delayed all these months downloading newer versions? Reason 1: I like to keep things simple. Reason 2: Everything about 2.03.532 has worked flawlessly for me, including the registry cleaner. Absolutely no hiccups or bumps in the road. Segue to reason 3: If it ain't broke, don't fix it. But sooner or later I figure it's a good thing to take the plunge to the new version. I'm asking for expert advice on these three questions from the stellar pros that participate in this forum: Do you concur that I should move on to 2.15.815? If I have experienced zero/zilch/nada problems with 2.03.532...including registry cleaning...should I assume 2.15.815 will behave just as well? Or, have there been any "aggressive" changes to 2.15.815's performance that may cause me some unexpected/unwelcomed surprises? Will installing over my old version work or do you recommend an uninstall and fresh install (particularly given how old my current version is)? If the latter, any special steps beyond simply using MS's Add/Remove programs? Not sure if it matters, but here are my system's details: XP Pro SP3, Sandboxie 3.30, NOD32 AV, SAS on demand, Windows Firewall + router Thanks in advance!
  11. Anthony, I'm a fan of Sandboxie...been using it now for about 6 months now. My browsing is always sandboxed and I'm venturing into downloading new "test" programs into individual sandboxes. I currently have Nod32, Spybot, and SAS on my system (free versions of the latter two) and I'm beginning to seriously reconsider my need for having all three of these programs. I'm not bold enough to dump all three, but since I very seldom ever scan with Spybot, I'm considering to remove that one. Your thoughts?
