  2. I noticed, that 'Index.dat Suite' batch file doesn't delete my index.dat files after all. I know, because i decided to take a look index.dat files on my system. They all were 16 or 32Kb, BUT some of those 32Kb size files STILL contained info of my visited sites.

Well, i checked CCleaner's index.dat cleaning option and scanned with it; it found and was set to clean 2 index.dat files, including 32kb file in my Userprofile/Cookies folder. That ID file still contained information. But after reboot, it was 16Kb and EMPTY. CCleaner was able to delete it.

What i used with 'Index.dat Suite', was a batch file, which was running from a Start-up folder. I also tried to set it run from HKEY_LM\Run, but no joy. I think the problem with 'Index.dat Suite' batch file was, that it runs too late, after Windows Explorer has already started and locked those ID files.

So CCleaner seems to be able deal with those index.dat files, but it was only set to delete 2 ID files. There's some other ID files, that i would like to delete, since they also still contains some information. How can i set CCleaner to delete more ID files?

  3. I can't get this addition to winapp2.ini to clean C:\Documents and Settings\[My Profile]\Application Data\Microsoft\MSN Messenger Folder

    [*Windows Live Messenger log]LangSecRef=3022DetectFile=%ProgramFiles%\Windows Live\Messenger\msnmsgr.exeDefault=TrueFileKey1=%%USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\MSN Messenger|*.*

    FileKey1=%%USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\MSN Messenger|*.*

Can it be cause of 2 % signs there?

  4. I have a simple question. Wouldn't it be just as easy to remove updates

2, 3, and 5 in Add or Remove, or better to use JavaRa?

I would prefer to use 'Add/remove program' first, and then use JavaRa to remove any left over crap.

  5. however I don't use Ad-Aware anymore.

Ad-aware SE is basicly the only antispyware scanner, that i use (now a days). I like it. No false positives or any other crap. Nice and simple GUI. I tried 2007 version, when it came out, but didn't like it. I don't scan very often though, maybe once every month or every few months. I don't have any reason to scan more often, because i use safe browser (Opera) and don't install any crap. I don't wanna scan every week or EVERY DAY, just to find out, that there's 0 infections. It's just a waste of time and recourses, for me. But i'm not saying it's not good to scan often, for most people it's a good thing.

  6. [02aug08] JavaRa updated to version 1.11.

    Changes:

    - [Added] Option to remember translation selected

    - [Added] Dutch Translation. Thanks to Fred de Vries.

    - [Added] Spanish Translation. Thanks to Gabriel Llamas Llopis.

    - [Added] Italian Translation. Thanks to Matteo Turconi.

    - [Added] Loads of new registry keys for JavaRa to detect.

    - [Added] Better support for Windows Vista filesystem

    - [Added] Closing of jucheck.exe and jusched.exe when JavaRa is removing older versions of the JRE, in order to prevent locked file conflicts.

    - [Fixed] Some minor bugs.

    - [Fixed] "Internal Error 2753. RegUtils" error.

Thanks, that found a bunch of new registry entries.

  7. riddled with false positives.

VERY TRUE. Haven't used it for ages, but just updated 3.1 to 3.5 and scanned with it. Nothing but false positives. Also don't like those text ads in Free edition. Ad-aware SE is the way to go. Hopefully they will continue to provide definition updates for it.

  8. My own opinion is that registry cleaning, while it is something I regularly do myself, is not really all that neccessary

Registry cleaning is basicly only needed, after you have uninstalled, and also installed programs.
